Hi there, I am interested in buying a reel lawn mower and don’t know which one to buy. I live in South Florida (Miami). I don’t want to spend money on gas and I definitely don’t like fumes. I heard our grass down here is difficult to cut with reel lawnmowers and wanted to know which one you would recommend. Thanks again.

Answer
Antonio - If you live in South Florida, chances are your lawn is a St. Augustine type of grass. And yes, this is some of the toughest grass to cut with a reel mower. If you have a thick grass like a St.Augustine, a Zoysia, or a Bermuda, you are going to need a heavier weight reel mower to plow through the thicker blades of grass, and that means it's going to be harder to push. I would recommend the Fiskers Momentum reel mower. Fiskars reel mower The Fiskars weighs more than a conventional reel mower, but the forward position of the reel and the versa-cut height adjustment will probably give you the best performance when it comes to managing thick grass like you have.
