Troy-Bilt Unhappy Customer
I purchased the first Troy-Bilt and it arrived with a cracked housing. I did not notice the problem until I went to assemble it-- by then the box was shredded.
I contacted Mowers Direct and ordered a second one-- same model. Once the second model came in I packed the first and returned it to Mowers Direct. I received a credit for the return.
The second Troy-Bilt had a cracked air cleaner housing which again was not noticed until assembly time. At present I invested over $500 for two Troy Bilts, and neither have been able to be used.
I contacted Troy-Bilt and ordered, at my cost, a new air cleaner housing --and it has not yet been delivered. I contacted Mower's Direct, via email to let them know of the issue with the second trimmer. I have not received an acknowledgment from them either.
The issue is not with Mower's Direct in my opinion, but in the manufacturers shipping carton. It consists of two pieces of cardboard within a full length box to support the jostling and weight of the trimmer. It simply ruins the product if shipped even by a reputable shipper as Fed Ex or UPS. My opinion of Troy Bilt has declined to zero based upon this set of circumstances.
MD RESPONDS: You only have $211.72 invested, since you got a full refund on the first unit, but that's still a chunk of money.
We are contacting the folks at Troy-bilt to check on your order; hidden shipping damage has a 10 day time limit for a claim, so we'll work with them to get the cost of your air cleaner cover taken care of.
