Q: Does installing the mulching kit on the Toro TimeCutter SS4235 increase the final operating width more than the stated specification of 43.5"? by Jim from Colorado on June 22, 2011
A: Jim - the mulch kit on a Toro SS series TimeCutter zero turn mower mounts totally on the inside of the mower deck, so the mulch kit would not have any effect on the overall width of the mower. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Are the arm rests an add on the the seat already in place? Can they be added at a later date? by ELJ from New York on June 05, 2011
A: Yes, the arm rests are an optional accessory on the Toro TimeCutter SS5000 (74630). These can be ordered and attached to the seat at any time. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Does the Toro Zero-Turn mower SS5060 (50 in deck, 24 HP) pivots in the front? by Paul from Maryland on May 28, 2011
A: Paul - the two front wheels on this mower swivel 360 degree's. The control levers control the drive speed of the rear wheels, so if you want to turn to the left, the right rear wheel rotates faster than the left rear wheel, which causes the mower to turn to the right. The front wheels both swivel to make this turn even sharper. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Todd, can I install snow plow for snow removal? by FAZ MOHAMED from New York on May 22, 2011
A: These models would not be able to handle a snow plow attachment. You can do this on bigger units, but not the TimeCutter models.
Q: For Toro would you suggest for landscrapers just starting out? by Kevin Schnug from New York on May 16, 2011
A: This is going to depend. In overall longevity and multiple properties to yards. You really would want to bump up to something a little more durable over time. Another factor to keep in mind would be your size. If you have to get through any gates, you may want to go with something smaller than 50". Most gates are not going to be able to take anything bigger than a 42" and sometimes you may need smaller.
I have had some landscaping guys use Timecutters in the past, but they just don't stand up over time to the overall abuse they can take over time.
Q: How Does the warranty work with ordering a mower on line. I know that it has a 3 year warranty but were do you take the mower if it does have problems? by Jesse from Michigan on May 15, 2011
A: Jesse - if your Toro mower requires warranty service during the warranty period, you can take the unit to any authorized Toro service center or Toro dealer. If the issue is specifically with the engine, you can also take the unit to an authorized Kawasaki dealer or service center, as they honor the warranty for the engine only. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: What does the free delivery include? How do I get it off the truck? by Bob from Pennsylvania on May 01, 2011
A: Bob - Free delivery is just that. We will deliver the mower to your home (or business) address for free. No additional charge. Standard delivery gets this mower to the street in front of your house or business. The driver will move the mower to the tail of the truck, but you are responsible to get the mower off the truck and down to the ground.
Most customers who purchase one of these mowers for home delivery opt for the lift gate service. With this option, the truck that delivers your zero turn mower will have a lift gate on the back of the truck. The driver will move the mower to the tail of the truck, put it on the lift gate and lower it to the ground. Some of the drivers may even help you move the mower up your driveway and into your garage or wherever you want the mower placed. But this is up to each individual driver - this is NOT part of the lift gate delivery fee. You would also be responsible for un-crating your zero turn mower as well. The delivery driver does not do this either. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Why does the Toro zero turn mowers have no zert fittings for the front spindles? Thanks by Roy from Arkansas on April 25, 2011
A: Honestly, it would be because of cost. The TimeCutter unit is going to be their lowest cost mower and this would be viewed upon as being an added cost feature. Toro would view this as a commercial type option.
Q: I'm debating between the SS5000 and SS5060. I have an acre of lawn. I'd prefer to mulch when I cut. I could care less about the foot assist, arm rests, and anti-vibration mat but I'm wondering if the 24HP KAW would be a better choice than the 22HP on the SS5000. by David A from Ohio on April 22, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. Between the two the one with the Kawasaki engine is the best choice. The Kawasaki is one of the better more dependable engines you will find. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Is the foot assist standard on this model? by Kenny Scott from Maryland on April 07, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. The foot assist is not standard on this model. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Hi, what's the clearance needed on a trailer needed for the toro 5000? I have 53 inches, wasn't sure if the spec measurements of 54.5"w included the plastic side discharge guide which I assume adds 4-6", no? Thanks. by Lary from Kansas on March 21, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. That measurement does not include the chute. If your opening is 53 inches this mower would not fit through that opening. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Which would you recommend? The Toro 5000 or the Troy Bilt Mustang? by Dan Lieberman from Maryland on March 10, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. I would definitely recommend the Toro TimeCutter SS5000 based on two main features. The first is the Toro is equipped with a 22-HP Kawasaki V-Twin OHV Engine. This engine gives you ultimate performance and durability for your mower. The other feature is Toro's Exclusive Smart Speed Control System. This system gives you the ability to choose different speed ranges with the flip of a lever along with more precise control for the driver. These two great qualities seperate this mower from the Troy Bilt.
Q: The picture for the Toro SS5000 shows arm rests. Do arm rests come with the mower? by Morris Ware from Alabama on March 10, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. The arm rests for this mower are sold seperately. by Jose, Product Expert

Good But Not Great
I have used this mower for one season now. It is a good value and the whole transaction was pretty painless from Mowers Direct.
The first thing I should tell you is that when this is shipped to your house it comes in a HUGE crate. I had a 6 x 10 trailer hooked to my tractor waiting at the end of my driveway, but when the semi pulled up it became clear that this crate would not fit on the trailer. I used a crow bar to take apart the crate and used the trailer to haul the pieces of the crate and packaging away.
I put a little gas in and it started right up. It mows well but I have noticed that one hydro seems a little weaker than the other. I made it a full season with no issues until I let my wife mow last week. She got a piece of wood stuck in one of the blades, burned the belt, caused the belt to break and whip around and hit the brake lever which is now also broken.
I know the belt breaking is on us, but the design of this thing is not very heavy duty if a belt breaking causing a metal brake lever to bust. Upon further examination under the mower I noticed the whole parking brake assembly is pretty flimsy and is prone to hit brush or other things because it is very exposed.
I think if you take it easy with this mower it will last a while, just be careful what you drive over. The size of the branch that got stuck in the deck was surprisingly small about 1.5" in diameter, and you wouldn't think something like this would get stuck. Maybe the deck design is a little off.
The motor is good although they did just issue a recall on them for a leaky fuel filter (mine was leaking).
All in all, a cost-effective mower, and it did cut my mowing time from 1 hour 45 mins to 45 mins, so I am really happy with that.

Love My Ss5000
After 10 years of cutting with a 42" lawn tractor, I decided to purchase this Toro Timecutter SS5000 based on a lot of research.
I was hoping to cut down my cutting time on my 2 acres. It took about an hour to get it unpacked and set up, and then I gave it a test on the back half of the yard. I was simply amazed.
On the High speed setting, it took 27 minutes. It normally takes about 75. I am so pleased with this mower. And the darn thing is fun to drive as well.

Great Mower
I received my mower in a very short time after my check cleared, I saved the credit card fee. I think they should set up electronic fee transfers for quicker approval.
I had some trouble getting the mower off of the crating, some thought should be put into the crating so one person can remove the mower with little effort.
The mower is everything it was said to be, easy to get working and operation is not hard to master.
I think it will last a long time from how it is built.
The water connection for cleaning the under-deck is hard to push on, maybe it will get easier with use.
I would recommend this mower, great value for the money.

Toro Zero-turn Twin Bagger
I bought the twin bagger to collect Fall leaves on my two-acre property. It does the job perfectly.
I must have accumulated over 1/2 ton of dead leaves in four hours. They got really deep in some spots and I had to go over them a few times to clean up the leaves completely.
The chute has a tendency to clog in the really dense stuff, but it's really easy to take off and clear out. The bags fill to overflowing.
I am really pleased with the purchase and the fast & efficient service from Mowers Direct.

Super Fast
Mowers Direct was true to their word- the mower arrived in super fast time. I'm glad I paid the extra to off-load from truck.
It was a little difficult getting it off the pallet on my own (the back tires were jammed into pallet cross-bars), but I got there in the end.
It fired up the first time like a charm. This is my first zero-turn mower, so the controls took a bit of getting used to, but practice makes perfect...
The motor is a little weak for some of my terrain, I guess I should have gotten a higher horsepower machine. All-in-all a good purchase and great experience from Mowers Direct

So Far So Good...
I only have a few hours on the mower, but it is obvious the mower is solid machine, well built. Final assembly was a snap.
This mower ships in a big box, so be ready (actually too wide for my trailer - I didn't have it delivered to my house because I was going to be gone).
Bagging capacity a little less than I would have liked (probably would have known this prior to purchase, but I couldn't seem to find that information beforehand). I am sure I will fine tune it for a perfect cut in the coming months. So far so good.

I Am Having A Ball With My New Toro Ss5000.
I was using a Husqavarna 48" cut, 21 HP to mow 2.83 acres. This is a good mower but it bounced me all around and I was sore all over when finished. Mowing took me at least 6 hours with little break time.
I received my Toro last week and boy, do I love it. Mowing is no longer a chore- it's actually fun with it. I mowed my acreage in 3 hours with the Toro.
My lawn is like a well kept golf course. I am a golfer, and thanks to Toro I can spend more time on the links.
Mowers Direct did exactly what the said the would. I also shopped on the Internet for the lowest price: Power Equipment Direct had the best buy. Thanks for making me a happy mower-er.
