It Is Great...if It Starts
The mower is easy to use, cuts my lawn in half the time of my old mower, as long as it starts. I have used it three times now, each time it starts without a problem the first time. As soon as I have to stop the mower for any reason (empty bag, move kids toys, etc.) it will not restart. I have literally pulled the cord 50 times with no luck. I have to wait 1-2 hours before it will restart. Very disappointed.

Best Buy Mowers Direct
I shopped around town and on the internet for the type of mower I wanted. Read reviews on different mowers
and came up with the Toro 20382 for my needs. Ordered from Mowers Direct and saved $30.00 on sale price
and $49.00 on sales tax, plus it was delivered right to my front door in the time stated when purchased. Inspected
the box and merchandise and all was in great shape. The next day assembled the handle and attached the catcher,
checked oil and added gas and gave it a crank. The mower started on first pull and has ever time. I have mowed my
yard three times and I'm very satisfied so far. The only draw back if any is during mowing and releasing the self
pull leaver, it is sometimes a little hard to pull the mower backwards. Its kinda like the belt didn't disengage or release.
This doesn't happen every time and maybe I haven't got used to it. Another thing is after mowing and catching grass, it
becomes a little light heavy in the front and the front wants to bounce a little. Overall I give it a "A" rating and would
recommend it. Also I would give Mowers Direct a "A" for their service.

Updated Review
This is an update to my review of March 23, 2013.
I finally got to use the mower today. Consequently, I'm downgrading my rating from five to just three stars. It starts on the first pull and it does a good job mulching the clippings. However, I came across an awkward and annoying issue that I believe is connected to the "Personal Pace" feature. When you're in a tight area and you need to pull the mower back to reposition it, you literally have to drag the machine back because the drive wheels are locked up and will not spin freely... an unacceptable quirk.

Surpassed Exspectations
I put this mower to the test on some very moist western Oregon turf, it cut right through never clogging or spitting out clumps underneath. Great mulcher, easy start Honda engine, aluminum deck I'm liking it. The personal pace system works great. Expensive but a very well designed mower, a pleasure to use.

Amazing
Just put my first couple hours on this mower. I've had a couple self propelled mowers in the past (good ones), and this thing beats them all hands down for ease of use. Don't know how they did it but this thing is amazing, virtually effortless compared to the mowers I had previously. The Honda motor started first pull out of the box, and if this mower is as durable as it is easy to use, then its the best mower on the planet.

Toro Super Recycler - 20382
It's hard to rate the new mower right now. It's only March and on the day I received the e-mail request we got 6+ inches of snow! I gave it five stars based on Toro's and Honda's reputations in addition to the full five-year warranty.
I'm a little concerned about the Personal Pace feature though. When I ordered the mower, being mostly interested in the Super Recycler Cutting System, I didn't pay too much attention to exactly how the Personal Pace feature worked. After years of manually controlling the engine and ground speed, I think it's going to take a bit of getting used to. Assembly was a snap, hardly any to speak of. If you want to crank it up right away, make sure you've got some 10W30 oil on hand. The Honda engine is shipped dry. It started on the second pull. The engine surged for a period of time (due to the automatic choke ?) then it settled down and ran smoothly.
Dealing with Mowers Direct was a pleasure. I ordered the mower on a Monday afternoon. I'm in New Jersey and on Friday afternoon it was in my driveway, safe and sound. That's terrific service... and for absolutely no charge! I'm not a big fan of cutting the grass but I'm looking forward to using the mower this season, well... my grandson is!

Great Experience
I had reservations about buying this mower from an on-line company that I had never done business with. My experience was nothing short of great. They communicate with the buyer at every turn.
Love, love, love the mower. This is my first self-propelled mower and I can't believe I waited this long to own one. It supplies effortless mowing.
Hint to new owners: let the mower run for a couple of minutes the first time you start it (to bring it up to temperature). I started mine and let it run for about 20 seconds and shut it down to adjust cutting height. I had trouble restarting it. However, once I got it up to temp the mower starts every time on the first pull.

Mower
I like the mower however, I thought the cut would be much finer.
MD RESPONDS: You may want to check with the Tech Support folks at Toro, toll free, at (888) 384-9939 for tips on how to get the cut you're looking for- maybe a different blade or set-up will help.
Be sure to have the serial number of your unit handy when you call Toro; they may ask for it so they know which model to look up.

Good Lightweight Mower
Very happy with this mower. Starts on the first pull and does an excellent job at mulching. T
he folding handle is really nice and the aluminum deck makes for a very lightweight mower.

Toro Super Recycler 21" 160cc Honda Personal Pace- Woman's Revie
I have struggled with mowing my large hilly yard with lots of obstacles since I moved in 12 yrs ago. I have purchased Craftsman mowers with large rear wheels, first a front-wheel drive then a rear-wheel drive.. was disappointed with those two purchases after the first cut. As a single mom, the lawn mowing was dragging me down. My neighbor, also single with a similar yard, did her research and chose this mower. She loved it, and let me borrow it. Love at first sight (or mow). I copied her and bought one. It took a tough job and made it manageable for me. I have never had such a nice machine before! Although expensive for my budget, I decided that the cheaper mowers were a part of the problem, not the solution for my yard. Starts easy, goes as fast as I want it to, I use the mulch option and just mow a little slower over the high grass. Turns well, goes backwards easily. Not a single problem.

Toro 20382 With The Honda Gcv160 Engine
Bought this terrific mulcher lawn mower to replace a 12 year old Toro SR with Personal Pace mulcher. I couldn't adjust the rear wheels out of the preferred position anymore because the aluminum notch wore out. I also didn't like repair option that could of fixed it. The reason I picked this model was because in my opinion, it has the best of both worlds for the homeowner. I have a quarter acre that's hilly with 7 trees along the way. It has Toro's quality and reliability we expect and now, a perfectly matched Honda Engine. I checked out the Honda HRX, but I was not sold on the plastic deck, the paddle control and how it does not roll freely when not running.
The Toro, when Personal Pace is disengaged, freely rolls forward and backward, I like that because it makes it easy to move and maneuver. To me, this model Toro just makes sense. You walk, it goes. I found it had plenty of grunt and power on my super thick, 6" tall spring Kentucky bluegrass I cut the day I bought it. I am very pleased with decision to stick with Toro again. I am also very satisfied with my purchase at Mowers Direct. The guys are very knowledgeable.

New Toro Mower
Have used the Toro a couple of times. Started with the first pull. Runs well. I was surprised there was no throttle and with the automatic pacing features. So far so good but I'm always fearful of such things as far as keeping them maintained which I usually do myself. All in all I'm satisfied with the purchase. greg

Top Rated Mulcher With Honda Engine
You buy the Super Recycler because you want one of the top rated mulchers with a Cast-Aluminum body.
You buy this particular model because you want the Honda engine. The Toro engine while new on the mowers already had two problems. They have replaced the fuel tubing and had a recall to replace the carburetor. Just too new and buggy for me.
This model doesn't have the blade stop or an electric start. The recommendation was to get the Electric start. If the blade start doesn't work, the mower doesn't mow. The Electric start makes the blade stop irrelevant and if it breaks you can still pull start the engine. Wanted the electric start but gave that up for the Honda engine.
This is the first year you can get the Honda engine on the mulcher body. Last year the Honda engine was only on the super bagger models. This is a very quiet engine and starts smoothly.
The personal pace takes some getting used to but I like it so far.
Rear wheel drive hasn't been a problem. Just stop walking 6 inches before the end and the personal pace stops the wheels. Then you can turn around slowly without tearing up the grass.
The handle storing upright saves space in the garage.
And finally, I like the idea of the side discharge for the first pass of leaves. Then the second mowing can mulch the leaves into the soil. The Hondas have a leaf shredder option but on both models that involves bagging the leaves. If you want to mulch leaves into the soil the Toro appears to be the better option. We will see next fall.
