Q: Can the battery on the E-Cylcer be removed so that you can charge it indoors? I have no garage (juyst a shed). Woudl also be interested in bringing the battery inside over the winter.
by Joe from Michigan on August 12, 2013

A: Joe - the battery on the Toro E-Cycler (20360) is not easily removable, and is not designed to be removed and stored as you are asking about. The battery can be removed from the mower if it needs to be replaced, but this involves removing the cowling and other parts from the mower. The owners manual clearly states that the mower should be stored during non-mowing periods with the battery left in the mower and fully charged.

Q: Todd,
I had a WORX 24V 19" cordless mower which worked great for the last two years. However, this year, the battery isn't keeping a charge. I have since found out that the battery is about $175 (half the price of the mower itself) and that the warranty on the battery was only a year, while the mower warranty was two years. With all that said, my questions are 1) what is the warranty on the battery vs the mower and 2) how much does a replacement battery cost for this mower?

by Mike from Virginia on March 31, 2012

A: Mike - Both the mower (Toro #20360) and the battery (#119-7060) have a two year manufacturers warranty. Should it become necessary to replace the battery, a new 36-volt battery assembly would run you $125 to $150 dollars.

Q: Hello Tod. It says that this mower is for "flat" surfaces. My yard is hilly at parts. How would the Toro e-cycler do in a hilly yard?

by Rod from New Jersey on May 29, 2011

A: Rod - As long as you are pretty strong, the Toro e-Cycler will work fine in a hilly yard. The reason I say that is because this mower is a "push" mower, not a "self-propelled" mower, so you will be the one supplying the power to push this mower up the hills in your yard. This mower is about 20 pounds lighter than a standard Toro gas powered walk behind mower, but most folks choose a self-propelled mower to tackle mowing on hills or steep inclines - it's just a lot less work for the person doing the mowing.

Q: Hello Todd. I have a Toro Recycler form the 1990's beleive it or not and didn't get a second battery until about 2 years ago. The model # is 20052/ Type E24. It has or is the bes mower i have ever had and soon to be 60. I'm still using my mower, the reason i'm writing you is in the handel that you push down its grey and it holds the cable. but my problem is where the cable connects to the peice of plastic it has broken off, there is nothing to hold the cable to the peice of plastic. Is There a reference gide that i can look at on the Toro web page. If this new mower is half as good as mine, you will have many happy coustmers. Thank you for your time. Rick Blocher

Q: Todd my wife wants to go "green" with lawn cutting by purchasing a battery powered mower. we are considering the Worxs 19" 36 volt model WG789. i am concerned it wont have enough power and am more in favour of a gas powred mower. our lawn is less than 10,000 sq.ft what is your recommendation?
by Jerry Francis from Indiana on May 05, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. My recommendation if you want to "go green" would be the Toro ecycler model 20360. You pay a little more, but it is arguably the best electric mower you will find.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: I have been looking to buy a Cordless electric mower, have read tone of reviews and articles, have come down to a few choices, the Toro e-cycle 20360, Black & Decker cm 1936, Recharge Mower PMLI-14
I can't seem to find much about The recharge Mower. And the worx cordless mower, what do you think is the best for run time, durability, and whatever you think about my choices, I use mulch settings, I like the ion battery, but don't know if that is a good mower. I do like the weight of the Recharge but not enough reviews. Thank You For Your Time

by Jenell from Idaho on March 29, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. If you are in themarket for a cordless electric mower I would recommend the Toro e-cycler. It is as close to a conventinal moer as you will get without using gasoline.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: 2 questions;

1) Whats the best cordless mower?
2) Is cordless as good as gas powered for cutting power?

by Vince from New York on March 20, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. The best cordless mower we carry is the Toro e-Cycler. As far as the cutting power a gas powered mower is always going to have more power.

Worked well for 6 months then the batteries died, very hard to find a Toro Dealer who will work on Electric Mowers. Extremely dissapointing

My Toro
Most of the comments posted for this mower were positive and that's why I bought it. Although some mowers were less expensive, I followed my gut on this one. Arrived in great shape, easy to assemble and easy to charge. I've got a 15,000 sq.ft. lawn, all flat, and one charge handled it. As far as I'm concerned, complaints about the weight are ill-founded. Many regular mowers are heavier and clumsier. Any age appropriate man or woman should be able to operate this mower. If you can't, you... more

$400 Thrown Away In Just Over 2 Years.
We bought the Toro E-cycler in June 2010. At the time we were purchasing the machine we were looking for something that would be environmentally responsible. It is how we justified the additional expense. Had I known that in just over 2 years I would be writing off the machine I would never have purchased it. The bolt holding the fawning to the electric motor worked itself loose and the motor overheated. According to the Toro technician, it was over use of the lawn mower and the lack of... more

Pretty Good But With A Few Caveats
Has a hard time if the grass is even slightly moist. Cannot get the grass to actually empty into the catcher - it collects underneath and leaves a trail on the lawn while the bag remains nearly empty. Also, cannot walk in reverse with it like you sometimes need to do around trees, etc. The rubber gasket along the back of the mower flops underneath and drags when you walk in reverse. Kind of heavy. In defense of the mower, I believe that keeping the blades sharp at all times will help... more
Pros: Durable, Reliable, High Quality
Cons: Heavy, Grass Catcher Doesn't Fill

Toro E-cycler Is The Best!!!
I bought a Craftsman gas mower two years ago, it worked great until I was being a dope and put too much oil in it. I emptied out the oil, but I had already done damage to it. I continued to mow the grass with it, but knew I would need another mower sooner rather than later when the white smoke kept burning from where the oil vents are. I looked online at all sites for mowers, googling which brand was the best. I remember someone saying Toro was the best and the neighbor using an electric mower.... more

Mower Problems
The mower is not strong enough to blow grass into bag. When not using the bag grass collects under mower and stalls motor.

I will live with the problems, but would not recommend this mower.

Very Poor Mower.
Had this mower for less than a year and it's already nearly burned out. I live in a suburb in the northeast with a small yard and what should be easy to mow grass. The mower was very weak from the first use and only got worse. For the price I paid for it I could have had a professional lawn care service come and to my lawn when considering the price/use.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Expensive

Best Gift
I bought this mower because my daughter is a single mom, who just had shoulder surgery and could not start a pull lawn mower. This mower is perfect for her. I charged the battery and she went out and mowed her lawn, (twice now in 2 weeks). It is very quiet, dependable, and does a super job on her lawn. It is very easy to charge when she is done and stores easily in her garage. Thank you for your excellent product. I love TORO.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

Squarely Handle And Very Heavy
The mower does not maneuver well and the handle feels flimsy. This model could use extra large rear wheels to offset the added weight of the battery.

Doesn't Cut Much
I'm in my second season with this mower.

The cheapest gas mower can do better than this!

After I cut the lawn (about 2,000 sq ft total), the grass looks like it's bent over rather than cut.

The bag picks up about 1/2 bag on my whole lawn. (My gas mower picked up 4 or more bags for the same lawn.)

Now the motor has burned out, but it should be repaired under warranty.
