Toro Lawn Mower Recall
  1 Question
Q: Oil drain plug where is it
by Dave from Michigan on August 18, 2011

A: Dave - the Toro Recycler mowers (including the 20334) do not have an oil drain plug. To drain the oil, you would (1) run the engine a few minutes before changing the oil to warm it. (2) move the mower to a level surface. (3) remove the dipstick. (4) tip the mower onto its side with the air filter up to drain the used oil out through the oil fill tube.

This Mower Is Not Up To Toro Standards
I've had this mower for going on three seasons. It is not up to Toro's standards. The engine is NOT a Briggs and Stratton. It's balky and runs poorly. It's been recalled once for a leaky carburetor, but still doesn't run as well as my old Toro did. The mower's recycling abilities are barely adequate.

I had a Toro for 15 years prior to this one, so when I replaced it I looked for a new Toro. But I should have looked more carefully. I see now that this product has been... more

Takes Some Getting Used To......
This unit replaced my 16 year old Toro Recycler-2 which was a great, reliable mower; that's why I stuck with Toro. When I used the mower the first time, I was ready to take it back, but now I really like it.

First, the mower does not have the recycling capacity of my old mower. With it set for mulching, there are places on my lawn that would cause the mower to clog and the blade would actually cavitate with a sharp mechanical noise like the engine was failing.

I now mow with the side... more

Keeps The Lawn The Way I Like It
I had purchased a Toro Recycler (20") lawn mower at the beginning of the lawn cutting season and I am very pleased with it.

I take pride in my lawn and once I got the height set to the desired setting, I am having no problems keeping the lawn the way I like seeing it.

The only thing I would like to see changed is more support on the handle.

I would recommend anyone to purchase this product.

My First Order
Ordered my lawn mower on line and received it a few days later. Unpacked it and set up the handle. Took out the instruction booklet and read it. Filled up the mower with oil as instructed.

Checked it over, and everything seemed to be fine. Pulled the starter and it started first time. Wow!!!!

If You Want To Mow 2-3 Times Per Week, Buy This Mower
If not, like those of us who have full-time jobs, and you'd actually like to take more than 1 inch off of your lawn each time you mow, you should buy a different mower.

I have owned this mower for only a month and it does indeed cut the lawn, but it does not recycle, nor does it bag.

The "recycler" simply slaps gobs of finely ground/pureed grass onto the walls of the deck until the blade becomes off-balance and begins to grind excessively until the engine starts bogging down. more

I purchased the mower from Mowers Direct. Free shipping and no tax!

It was delivered in good condition. All I had to do was take it out of the box, unfold the handle, and add oil/gas.

I have mowed three times so far. The mower started on the first pull each time. It is light weight (easy to push) and pretty quiet.

The only thing I do not like is the fact it does not come with a rear or side discharge deflector. Even though it is a mulching mower, I like to shoot the grass out the... more

A mulching mower chops up the clippings and distributes them evenly to fertilize the grass. The grass stays in the blades longer, so they are cut up into finer pieces.

A side discharge chute is available from Toro; it's part number #117-4160. The grass won't stay in the blades as long, so it won't be chopped as fine.

Very Good Mower And A Great Value
If you're looking for a high quality mower and don't need a self-propelled model, this Toro 20323 is a great value.

It has very simple set-up out of the box, and after adding oil and gas it started on the first very light pull.

This mower is a modern version of the same type of Toro I bought about 10+ years ago, and the new one feels lighter and easier to maneuver than my old one.

Good job mowing -- nice and even, with good mulching of the clippings and the few leaves on my lawn.
