Q: specs for the snapper 2811523BV 11.5 HP show recoil start only. However, the video shows both recoil and key start. Which is true? Also my present 28" snapper HiVac will cut in reverse. Has this feature been eliminated in the newer "improved" models? Is the $1299.99 price inclusive of all shipping to my home in Fayetteville GA? by Jim Jordan from Georgia on July 03, 2011
A: Jim - the Snapper 2811523 series with the 11.5HP engine is only available with a recoil start. These is no electric start option on this model. The rest of the Snapper rear engine riders do offer an electric start, but this model does not. All of the current Snapper rear engine riding mowers are equipped with a Reverse Lockout Mechanism. This mechanism prevents the mower from being shifted into reverse with the blade running. So you will not be able to mow in reverse. And yes, the price on our web site includes delivery to your home or place of business anywhere in the 48 contiguous United States. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Todd, Do these mowers arrive ready to mow or do they need to be preped first, Like adding oil. Bob by Bob from Florida on June 24, 2011
A: Bob - all of the Snapper rear engine riding mowers require a bit of assembly when they are delivered. You will need to put on the seat, steering column, and front axle . You will need to adjust the seat and the steering wheel to the proper comfort positions, as well. All fluids (including the oil) are pre-filled in this mower. All you need to add is the gas. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: with the priority shipping is the lawn mower still shipped to the residence? Also when there are leaves down in the fall does the rear vacuum bagger pick up the leaves when cutting the lawn? by William A. Cunningham from Ohio on June 09, 2011
A: William - yes, the priority shipping option simply speeds up the processing of your order and get your new mower out the door from our warehouse the same day you order it. The mower is still delivered right to your home or wherever you want it shipped. With the rear bagger installed, this mower will pick up leaves in the fall, but it is not a lawn vacuum, and will not clean up leaves as effectively as a lawn vacuum will. These will still be some leaves left on your lawn - especially if the leave are damp. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Todd, I really like this mower but I have an extremely small 2 car garage. I have heard about the 'stand on end' feature and was wondering if it is ok to store this mower in that position all year. If not how much of a foot print does this mower need for storage ? by Keith from Kentucky on June 05, 2011
A: Keith - yes, these Snapper rear engine riding mowers can be stored on the rear bumper for extended periods when not in use. Complete instructions on how to do this are found on page 20 of the owner's manual, but in a nutshell, this is the proper procedure to follow to insure the rear engine rider will operate properly when taken out of storage: 1. Thoroughly clean the mower by removing all grass clippings and debris. 2. Perform maintenance and lubrication as required. 3. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank. 4. Start the engine and allow it to run until the engine runs out of fuel. This allows the carburetor and fuel system to remain clean during storage. 5. Remove the battery. 6. Close the vent on the fuel filler cap. 7. Carefully stand the mower on its rear bumper in the desired location for storage.
If you were intending to do this during mowing season, that you won't be able to do unless you want to refill all of the fluids every time you use the mower. The Snapper rear engine riders have a footprint of approx. 64" to 69" long x 32" to 38" wide depending in which model you are ordering. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: I've just started looking into a riding mower. I have a 1/2 acre yard with Zoysia grass. The yard is about 80% flat with the rest hilly and above a 10 deg grade. I am currently using a self propelled 21" walk behind mower. I bag the grass. It takes about 3 hours to mow. Although I currently bag the grass, I am open to mulching. I would like to have something with a bag attachment to pick up the leaves in the fall. The main goal is to drastically decrease the amount of time I have to spend on the yard. I realize that I will still have to use the walk behind mower for the steep areas of the yard.
What would you recommend?
I have been looking at the Snapper Rear Engine mowers.
Thanks for your help. by John Grater from Missouri on May 23, 2011
A: John - I think the Snapper rear engines riders would be an excellent choice based on the mowing situation you have described. Less than an acre; most of it relatively flat. Any of the Snapper models would be a great choice. I couldn't agree more. Snapper Riding Mowers A lawn tractor or a zero turn would be overkill for a lawn that is less than an acre. A rear engine rider is perfect for this situation.
And the 5 bushel bagger for the Snapper rear engine riders is probably 2.5 to 3 times larger than the bagger on your walk behind mower, so fewer stops to empty out your grass clippings, which will save time as well.
If you are spending 3 hours to mow now, my guess is you will cut that time at least in half if you upgrade to a rear engine riding mower. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: I am looking for a ride on mower. My budget is about $1500.00. I have about 9000 square feet of generally flat terrain. I just want something to cut my yard quicker and easier than my Honda walk behind. Any recommendations for that type of terrain and that budget? by Charlie Kelly from New Jersey on May 21, 2011
A: Charlie - for a yard of your size that is relatively flat, you have two basic option for the money you want to spend. If all you want to do is mow the grass, you could choose a Snapper rear engine riding mower - we have a couple of models that would fit your budget. Snapper Rear Engine Riding Mowers If you want something more versatile that can pull a cart or a spreader or can plow snow with a blade, you may want to look at a Husqvarna or McCulloch tractor. Again, we have several that would fit into your desired price range. Husqvarna TractorsMcCulloch Tractors by Jose, Product Expert
Q: We have a full acre to mow. Since my husband is not in best of health, it will be me most of the time to mow. Is this a easy handle for older woman? Can it handle lawn size easily? Thanks for advice. by Loraine Cambers from Georgia on May 09, 2011
A: This would be fine for yourself. My suggestion would be to go with the 12.5 HP unit though because it has electric start. This unit would be recoil only and having a starter put on is not worth the $200 extra you pay on the front end.
Q: I have never purchased a mower on line before. If I choose free shipping will I have to pick it up at a truck terminal? And would the 12.5 hp snapper haul a 225 lb. guy around? My last one, I owned in high school. lol. by Randy Lasater from Missouri on May 08, 2011
A: Even if you choose the free shipping without the lift gate, this would still deliver to your house.
This mower would be more than ok to handle a guy your size. If you were 350 pounds, then you could possibly run into some problems, but would more than likely be ok.
Q: I bought the mulching blade for my new 28" riding mower, do I need the side cover that comes with the kit. can that be purchased separately? by Brian Kisker from New York on April 26, 2011
A: If you are lookign to mulch, you would want the baffle for this. We do not just sell the baffle though. It would have to be purchased with the kit. You could try a Snapper dealer and see if they would have something like this available, but we would not sell the baffle.
Does this mower come with the bagging system, and electric start for the price of $1299.99? by Richard C. from Illinois on April 25, 2011
A: This mower would not come with a bagging system. This would have to be purchased separately.
In terms of electric start, you would be better off purchasing the 12.5 HP model with electric start, because this model would not be electric start. It can be added, but usually would end up costing at $500 for the add on with labor and parts.
Q: Todd, I was talking with a few friends and happen to mention I was in the market for a rear engine Snapper. They advised me to be careful because for a number of years Snapper made a line for Walmart that wasn't nearly as reliable. Is there any truth to that? Also what size when in inch's are the rear tires for this particular model?
Thanks, Jonathan
by Jonathan M. Flanary from Alabama on April 11, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. I have not heard anything to that effect. I know the mowers we sell originate directly from Snapper (Briggs & Stratton) and are some of the most reliable mowers we offer. The rear tires on this model are 16 X 6.5. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: I have only a small space in my garage to store this mower. What are its overall dinensions and weight? The smaller rider the better for me as I have only a small yard. by Paul Kral from Missouri on April 03, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. The dimensions are 64 X 32. The weight is 300 lbs. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Hey Todd, can snappers rear engine riding mowers be used to pull a roller or an aerator? by Phil from California on March 28, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. I do not recommend pulling a roller or aerator with this type of mower. You would need a garden tractor of some kind to pull implements such as those. by Jose, Product Expert

Mowers Direct-great/snapper Bagger-so,so
I'd give Mowers Direct 5 stars for their quick delivery and great website.
The bagger itself is a 3 star. It won't suck up tall grass without dropping piles of it. The assembly directions for this are worthless. Even the pictures don't help much.
I love the Snapper mower. It gets around my 2 1/4 acres just great. If it gets stuck and I am patient, it eventually digs itself out but Snapper missed on the bagger- especially the instructions.
MD RESPONDS: Please feel free to call the folks at Snapper Tech Support, toll free, at (800) 935 2967 for advice on getting the best performance from your bagger.

Do Not Buy This Mower!!
We have had nothing but trouble since we received the mower.. The day after we received it we had to take it to the shop to be fixed...Now we have found out several things wrong with this mower. Things that should not have to be fixed since it was NEVER used.

Hard To Back Up
This mower is not easy to operate for a lady. Would not recommend it for a women. I was worn to a frazzle by the time I got the yard mowed. Do not like the way you have to back it up. Wouldn't recommend it if you have a small yard with much backing up to turn around.

New To Riding
I used to be a mower pusher. I'm now convinced if your property will tolerate a riding mower this is the way to go. After reading about all of the different brands and models the Snapper rear engine 11.5 was the one for me and I have not been disappointed.
It starts easily and has plenty of power. It fits through my gate and assembly was fast and simple. Mowers Direct had no surprises and the mower came on time and in very good condition.
I have to give this mower a 9 out of 10 and Mowers Direct a 10 out of 10.

My Snapper Rocks
I ordered this 28" riding mower because I have problems with my feet. It came nearly ready for use. It took me longer to get it free from the crate it came in than to hook-up the front wheels, put the seat on and attach the steering wheel. I gassed it up and it fired up right away.
I also chose this mower because it fits thru my gate. It has plenty of power and maneuvers pretty well. I can do my whole yard in half the time as before, but I don't have much to mow.
Anyway, good mower and at a great price. I also ordered a 36" roller & a 40" aerator from Precision Products. Both products came with missing parts & I have yet to get confirmation on receiving them. Not a very PRECISION way to do business. The roller was missing the left & right side hitch bars, so it's useless. It looks like a good product, but I can't hook it up. The aerator was missing 2 bolts in the hardware, so I was able to fix that problem.
