Q: Im looking for a good middle of the road zero turn mower for a small lawn care business. Im just starting my search and have had a little experience with zero turns. Im wondering if you could recomend a quality mower that can handle a range of yard size applications. It doesn't have to be the caddy of all mowers just well built and not under powered .thank you.

 Deck On The 285z

The deck on the 285z is no good. It is way too light, metal too thin for any amount of shock load. This is the only mower out of many in my 30 + years of owning a riding mower that I had to replace the deck on. The air filter wasn't even dirty when the deck warped due to a root in the yard. It didn't bend the blades nor did it hurt the aluminum arbor housings, just the top of the deck. Snapper needs to brace the decks better or better yet, make them heavy duty.
