Q: Does this mower have a blade brake? If I walk away from the mower does it kill the engine? by Jack from Texas on April 17, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. This mower is not equipped with any type of blade brake. The engine will not shut off if you walk away from the mower. by Todd, Product Expert

Very Good
Just takes time to learn the easy ways to use. All mowers are different. Snappers are great. I'm 62 and this is my 3rd snapper and I still own the one before this new one. It's 15 years old and I still use it at the farm to trim. Hope this one does as well. It want cut by itself, but for around $500 it's a good buy. Lasts forever if serviced.

Best Ever!
I cannot believe the other reviews. This is by far the best mower I've ever owned. I'm 64 and have owned many. The BS 8.75 engine never slows down. The self-propelled feature is perfect. Stops when I stop and goes when I go. Pulling back is a breeze.
The quality of construction and design is outstanding. Why would anyone buy a Chinese thing like a Honda when we have this. They sell all day for $499 delivered. What a deal.
Perhaps the self propelled feature needs adjustment, after all it is an electro-mechanical device and the adjustment is quite simple to meet everyone's needs. What a great product.

DIS-APPOINTED!!
Granted, the electric start function and the craftsmanship of this lawn mower is superior to most. However, it should be for what I paid for it. But it is very hard for a mature person to handle. The self-propelled feature is almost impossible to use and having to back the mower up, which is usually necessary on most lawns, is very difficult. I am afraid that I would not purchase this lawn mower if I had it to do over again.
I am definitely getting a work-out when I mow my lawn, as I did with my old lawn mower! So much for the self-propelled feature! As an older adult, I was hoping to get a little help with the pushing!

Bad purchase
Wish I would have read the 2 reviews ahead of mine. I would not have purchased this mower. One thing for sure, you do get snapped if you buy one. My troubles are the same as those above may be even worse. Don't buy one you will be sorry.!

Bad Choice
What a disappointment in this overpriced mower. First, the self-propeller is hard to use and very stiff. I cannot use it anymore because of the pain it causes in my wrists. Also, the starter button has stuck, preventing the starter from disengaging till the battery goes dead, then the button popped off and fell to the ground! The casing around the drive control handle has come loose more than once causing the mower to completely stop running. The mower has been used five times and has broken down four of those times. We will not buy anymore Snappers!!

NXT22875E Snapper Mower
Very, very disappointed in the mower. First the positive. The electric start is great. However the self propelled feature is terrible. The controls are very stiff and awkward to use compared to my old Lawnboy. But the worst problem is the function of the self-propelling transmission. When trying to pull the mower backwards as I must do very often in my yard, the drive wheels either completely lock up or roll with a great deal of difficulty. I have gotten several stories from Snapper concerning the problem including the mower is not designed to go backwards (a safety feature), to it just can't happen, to stop forward motion then pull it backwards and then forwards to unlock the drive and then pull backwards. (That's a real handy thing to have to do!!) The dealer at Snapper's direction changed the transmission, but the new drive acts the same way. I believe Snapper is not admitting a severe design problem. I will never buy another Snapper product!!!

Hard to Handle
The controls on this mower are too stiff - the self propelled bar across the top is much too hard for me to control.
It does not push easily. I had a Snapper mower for many years and liked it very much - that was my reason for purchasing a new one this year. I am very disappointed with this mower. I could have purchased a mower from the store at a much lesser price - and I am sorry I didn't.
