A: Kevin - the NINJA mulch blade will cut your grass just fine without using the discharge cover, but it won't mulch the grass very well. If you are looking to properly mulch your grass clippings, you need to use the discharge cover to create the proper air flow under the mower deck. by Todd, Product Expert
