1 Question
Q: Todd, does this Snapper SPX2246 machine take a two stage snowthrower? by Mark from Maine on June 01, 2012
A: Mark - sorry, but the only snow thrower that is compatible with any of the Snapper SPX tractors is a Snapper #1695969, which is a 42" wide single stage model. There is also a 42" plow blade available as well (Snapper #1696092) by Jose, Product Expert

A Perfect Company
I'm very pleased with this Company, especially with Joan P., a very professional and sharp person.
We dealt with a Mulch Kit for my Snapper SPX 2042.
Thanks again.

My New Mower
Received as promised. Looked good. Problems, had to send to shop for repairs. Three weeks later (shops busy this time of year) got it home. Pick up and delivery not covered in warranty. Took a deep breath and took it for a spin. Well to tell you the truth, this machine impressed me. No hand shift, two pedals same foot, forward reverse very easy. Very tight turns, cost much less then the zero turn machines, which I would not like to work on. Back to the mower, quieter than my older Snapper, faster more powerful and much easier to handle. Mowers Direct did me a big favor buy selling me this machine for the best price I could find.

Wow
I received my new tractor in January. Unpacked it charged the battery and decided to try it out. In the fifteen minutes of mowing the belt came off 4 times. I was told to contact snapper, they told me to take it to my local dealer. I took it to the snapper dealer who at a quick inspection found a pully guard missing and trouble with the flywheel kept it from starting. When I get it back I'll let you know more.

I Love It So Far
I bought this mower locally (sorry MD) and used it the day after purchase to mow 1.5 acres of very tall but very dry grass. My initial impression is a very good one. The auto transmission and the forward/reverse foot pedals plus the super tight turning radius allowed me to cut this 1.5 acres in about 1-1.5 hours and I have LOTS of obstacles. It definitely seemed to go faster than the 46" inch Troy Bilt POJ it replaced and exhibited absolutely no unfavorable characteristics.
I have owned three riders prior to this in fact and this is, without a doubt, the best of the bunch. I purchased a snapper for several reasons: they have a reputation for being a quality US made product and their manufacturing facilities are located in a right to work state. Plus, Snapper is owned by Briggs and Stratton now and B&S is another fine American company with a long history of producing durable intelligently engineered products so this "partnership" made me even more comfortable buying a Snapper because I don't think Briggs or Snapper will risk their reputations the way MTD did.
This mower is well thought out, intelligently engineered, comfortable, easy to maintain with its spin on oil filter and oil drain hose, and it cut the grass evenly and without issues. 5 stars so far. I love it. I'll update in a few years after it has been thoroughly weighed and measured.
