My Toro
Most of the comments posted for this mower were positive and that's why I bought it. Although some mowers were less expensive, I followed my gut on this one. Arrived in great shape, easy to assemble and easy to charge. I've got a 15,000 sq.ft. lawn, all flat, and one charge handled it. As far as I'm concerned, complaints about the weight are ill-founded. Many regular mowers are heavier and clumsier. Any age appropriate man or woman should be able to operate this mower. If you can't, you... more

$400 Thrown Away In Just Over 2 Years.
We bought the Toro E-cycler in June 2010. At the time we were purchasing the machine we were looking for something that would be environmentally responsible. It is how we justified the additional expense. Had I known that in just over 2 years I would be writing off the machine I would never have purchased it. The bolt holding the fawning to the electric motor worked itself loose and the motor overheated. According to the Toro technician, it was over use of the lawn mower and the lack of... more

Pretty Good But With A Few Caveats
Has a hard time if the grass is even slightly moist. Cannot get the grass to actually empty into the catcher - it collects underneath and leaves a trail on the lawn while the bag remains nearly empty. Also, cannot walk in reverse with it like you sometimes need to do around trees, etc. The rubber gasket along the back of the mower flops underneath and drags when you walk in reverse. Kind of heavy. In defense of the mower, I believe that keeping the blades sharp at all times will help... more

Toro E-cycler Is The Best!!!
I bought a Craftsman gas mower two years ago, it worked great until I was being a dope and put too much oil in it. I emptied out the oil, but I had already done damage to it. I continued to mow the grass with it, but knew I would need another mower sooner rather than later when the white smoke kept burning from where the oil vents are. I looked online at all sites for mowers, googling which brand was the best. I remember someone saying Toro was the best and the neighbor using an electric mower.... more

Mower Problems
The mower is not strong enough to blow grass into bag. When not using the bag grass collects under mower and stalls motor.

I will live with the problems, but would not recommend this mower.

Very Poor Mower.
Had this mower for less than a year and it's already nearly burned out. I live in a suburb in the northeast with a small yard and what should be easy to mow grass. The mower was very weak from the first use and only got worse. For the price I paid for it I could have had a professional lawn care service come and to my lawn when considering the price/use.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Expensive

Best Gift
I bought this mower because my daughter is a single mom, who just had shoulder surgery and could not start a pull lawn mower. This mower is perfect for her. I charged the battery and she went out and mowed her lawn, (twice now in 2 weeks). It is very quiet, dependable, and does a super job on her lawn. It is very easy to charge when she is done and stores easily in her garage. Thank you for your excellent product. I love TORO.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

The mower does not maneuver well and the handle feels flimsy. This model could use extra large rear wheels to offset the added weight of the battery.

Doesn't Cut Much
I'm in my second season with this mower.

The cheapest gas mower can do better than this!

After I cut the lawn (about 2,000 sq ft total), the grass looks like it's bent over rather than cut.

The bag picks up about 1/2 bag on my whole lawn. (My gas mower picked up 4 or more bags for the same lawn.)

Now the motor has burned out, but it should be repaired under warranty.

Just What I Wanted
This is just the perfect lawn mower for our small yard. I had the last gas powered Toro for 15 plus years so I know the dependability of a Toro and this electric mower has plenty of power and does a wonderful job on the grass. I would recommend this mower and Power Equipment direct for purchase.

At Least It Cuts Grass
I'm trying to be fair with 3 stars, but really I'd like to go with fewer.

My background comes from having used a corded mower for that past 3 seasons with decent success. However, a consumer magazine recently rated my corded mower as one of the worst in its class, and although it bagged well, it didn't really get up all the clippings and didn't always cut well. So...I was ready to go cordless and get a better mower. After scouring the reviews and prices I was considering a different... more

Worst Mistake That I Ever Made
This is my first electric mower and it is next to worthless. If I lower the cutting height just one setting, the mower continuously stalls and leaves large clumps of grass on the lawn. Even when I mow on a regular schedule at the same cutting height, the mower does a poor job of mulching.
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Unreliable, Expensive, Difficult To Use, Does Not Mulch Well

Larry,
We are sorry to hear you are having problems with your Toro mower. We recommend mowing dry grass and adjusting the height of cut to a higher setting. This will lessen the amount of grass you are attempting to mow at one time, reducing these instances.

If you are still experiencing issues please call our customer service number at (888) 384-9939 (toll free).

Long Lasting Battery
I have quite a large yard and wanted a push instead of bringing out the riding lawnmower every time I needed a touch-up. Does a great job! A little heavier than I expected, at first, but once you get the hang of it and know what to expect, it's a great product and I have MS! I've only used it 3 times, but so far so good.

Toro Cordless Mower Is A Terrific Product
I had a cordless electric mower by Toro previously. It lasted over 15 years and was a dream to use. No cords or gasoline to deal with!

So I just updated with this Toro model and after 2 mowings I am very pleased with it.The 36 volt battery has abundant power to get through the thickest, highest grass and the mower is made of quality materials.

Today I told a landscaper friend about Mowers Direct.com. . . related to him the great selection of this site, how easy it was place an... more

Quietest Lawn Mower Around
I bought this mower for a medium-size hilly quarter acre yard. It is perfect for my needs but not in the way one would think.

I have never been able to cut the entire yard on a single charge. I guess the slopes and hills take a lot out of the motor. However, I am completely wiped by the time the charge goes which signals to me that it's time to take a break.

The portion of the yard I am able to mow suits me just fine. Either I can mow the front lawn and both sides of the house or the... more

Very Happy
I am very happy with the purchase of the 36v battery powered Toro lawn mower. I have about a 1/3 of an acre to mow. I have been able easily to mow the entire acreage on only one charge with power to spare, even mowing wet grass 4 inches high. The mower does a very good job of mulching.

The mower arrived with one bent wheel, but this was promptly taken care of by Toro. I will not go back to gas or long electric cords again. This is really the way to go for most residential lawn... more

Better Than Expected
My wife and I bought and renovated out first house in a small city on a 1/10th acre lot. Since the house foot print was aprox. 1,000 sq./ft. and the one car garage and driveway took up some more space, I thought an electric mower would do us fine and free me from the noise, the maintenance and the cost of gas mowers. While the mower does a fairly good job, I must say that there are two things that noticeably get in my way that would earn this machine a 5 star rating.

First, the... more

I'm Satisfied
The mower arrived with the package and product in good condition.

I've used the mower two times so far. It charged up, per paperwork, and has handled our lawns without any problem. Our property is fairly flat.

I should note that the mower a bit heavy, so it will take some strength to change direction. For now, I'm satisfied.

The only difficulty I find is that it takes a strong hand & wrist to hold the rear flap up, while mounting the grass catching basket with the other hand.... more

My Friend Likes The Toro
OK, here is my report. I have started to send this on three occasions, but you flooded the page with so many advertisements that I couldn't find space to work.

This Toro mower is a fine mower if a person has very light grass and if you could mow by always going down hill. I have always cared for my own yard. After the second try with your mower I gave the thing to a friend who was needing a new mower. Then I ordered the parts to repair my old Neuton mower which weighs less than half what a... more

Well, It Is A Toro!
Guess I was remembering the old TORO self-propelled gas mowers I've had in the past. And then remembering the lightweight, quiet cordless electric mowers I've had. Guess I assumed this would be the best of both worlds.

Jury is still out, but . . . It is MUCH heavier and harder to maneuver than I had anticipated. But I DO like the 20" cut. I can do my lawn in half the time.

I have used the bagger with great success. It is very easy to attach and to un-attach for emptying. I created... more

Small Yard, Small Garage
We just moved into a newer home from a old house with a full acre, double garage, and 600 foot workshop. Plenty of storage needless to say for my old lawn tractor. The new home has a small yard, about 1/3 of an acre with a big pool, a lot of decking and landscaping in the back, and NO extra garage space to speak of.

So, I was looking for a good push mower that did not require that I keep a gas can around for. I was looking for 2 things in an electric mower: 1) performance as close to a... more

Joyce,
It would take a lot of the battery's power to move the wheels, taking away from how long the battery could run the blade.

Growing up over the years I have always used gasoline engine mowers, and never really had problems with them. However after buying my first home, I wanted something that was more cost efficient overall, environmentally safe and friendly to the neighbors when it came to noise level. Unfortunately it hasn't rained much in South Texas and I have only been able to use this once in the past three weeks or so.

However after using it the one time, I have to say that one of the greatest pros to... more

Excellent In Every Way That Matters
I selected this lawn mower before we even closed on our house. We have a relatively midsized yard, over 17k sq ft, front and back. This mower though weighed 90 lbs shipped was a breeze to tame the grass. I ran out of energy on the slope but there were lots of power left on the charge. I cut over 10k sq ft with a single pass and the yard looks professionally done. It is relatively quiet but the blades are sharp enough to handle our terrain. The only issue, which is really a non-issue is... more

Ordered mower on a Sunday, it was shipped on Monday. Mowers direct is terrific. Have used the mower for a few weeks now. Cuts evenly and very easy. I cut 3 very small yards, each only takes about 5 - 10 minutes. After cutting it only takes less than 30 minutes for it to recharge. It can be moved easily. One thing I noticed when pushing it on the sidewalk and street, is that the rear wheels make some funny noise. Maybe it just needs broken in more. Will have to wait and see. Overall,... more

Maureen,
Traditionally, Push mowers feel heavier to as they have no self-propelled system. Thank You for the suggestion. We will make our design team aware of your feedback. As battery technology improves, we hope to be able to offer a lighter model in the future.

Uh! Oh!
I was hoping for the best.....unfortunately, when I plugged & recharged the mower, it never worked!!

The motor did not start! With great effort & time, I took it to the local authorized Toro shop to fix.

Apparently, an internal wire in the motor assembly was never attached at the factory (in Mexico?).

I pick it up later this week. I really hope it works and is able to cut my 13 acre lawn. Not too confident this is a long term cutting solution....but I'm still hopeful!

Happy With Electric Mower
I have had gas, diesel, electric and riding mowers but the E-cycler is my favorite. It does a nice job efficiently and quietly.

I do clean the deck after each use. I am 60 years old and the weight is no problem as wheels roll easily.

Weighty
I like the Toro. I've used it twice so I'm getting used to it, really. I love not having a cord to contend with. So, the feeling of freedom is definitely a plus.

The only thing I can think of at this point is that it is heavier than my my corded electric. Something to get used to. I mean for this 70 yr. old it's a workout. A good workout I might add.

So far, I'm pleased with it.

My New Toro
I had a little Toro 24 hp electric mower for 12 years. That little mower worked like a champ. I have a small back and front yard but used it every week. I never even had to replace the battery!

This new one is a 35 hp mower and you can tell! When fully charged it started and was ready to jump on my lawn.

The grass catcher is a plus. It picks up well enough for me to add clippings to my compost tumbler. Perfect for my use. It was delivered within a week and easy to put together. Nothing... more

Good Mower For The Right Lawn...
I purchased this mower after building a new home in Florida with a smaller yard than I have had in the past.

The mower is very simple to use and the charge lasts a long time. As this mower is electric it is not self-propelled, which for a lawn like mine with some small hills, it makes for a workout.

Overall, the mower is great for what it is. It has enough power and a long lasting charge. If you need something that will cut long and/or thick grass, I would recommend a gas mower for... more

Great Mower!
I ordered a battery-powered Toro 20" mulching mower on Friday, got an e-mail confirmation later saying it shipped, and it showed up on Tuesday as expected. Unloading was easy, and I did both lawns on one charge.

My Briggs & Stratton 4.75 HP typically needs 2 full tanks and didn't perform as well in the thick grass. I am very happy, indeed.

It needs no gas, oil, spark plug, pretty much and no maintenance other than the blade. I hope I have it a long time. The only thing I'm not... more

Way Underpowered And Easily Overheats
I'd like to write a good review for this mower, and admittedly it does mulch well if you don't cut too much, but the unit is severely underpowered. Also it is easy to overheat the motor while the 10 amp breaker never trips. You learn to never, never allow the motor to slow down, since the motor is totally enclosed fan cooled, and the fan doesn't move enough air unless its going at full speed. One thing I DO like is that it has simple controls, and with a brushed-permanent-magnet motor and... more

Bill,
We are sorry to hear you are having problems with your Toro mower. We recommend adjusting the height of cut to a higher setting. This will lessen the amount of grass you are attempting to mow at one time, reducing these instances.

If you are still experiencing issues please call our customer service number at (888) 384-9939 (toll free).

Toro E-cycler
So far so good with my Toro cordless electric mower. The summer has been extremely hot and dry so mowing has been reduced but I enjoy going gas free and ear plug free! You will probably want to think about mowing a tad higher with this mower as it struggles a bit if you try to cut off too much grass at once.

Also, if your yard is big and/or hilly you may want to consider a self-propelled model as you will notice it is a bit of work to mow with it for long stretches. So far I have run out... more

Great Rechargable Electric Mower
I had to get a new rechargable electric mower since my old Toro rechargable finally wore out after 11 years of service and a couple of sets of batteries. I used it for a large yard and chopped through some stuff you would normally not put through an electric mower. If the new one lasts anything like the old one it will be a terrific buy.

I chose the e-cycler because of the steel deck, 36V battery, and the bagging attachment. My old one had a plastic deck and 24V battery system with no... more

Great Mower!
Bought this for my husband two months ago, and I think he really looks forward to mowing the lawn now! The size of the mower and its cordless feature are really the best parts. It makes mowing so easy!

Know The Limitations
Still in my first season of use. So far very satisfied. I've owned Toro mowers before and this mower is up to their standards. I bought this for my wife so she could just switch on and mow. I still use a gas powered mower for other mowing needs.
It mows well for what it is : A battery powered cutting tool. This is not a mower to power through heavy weeds and grass, but will do exactly as it is advertised.

A side discharge insert is referred to in the manual, but was not included with the... more

William,
William,

As of right now Toro does not offer a side discharge deflector. Not sure as to why it is in the manual still as it has not been offered since 2010 and you cannot see one in the parts list either. Toro does offer a rear discharge deflector if this is something you would be interested though. The part number for this is going to be a 89964. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to give us a call.

Toro E-cycler
Way too heavy and hard to push. I can only do 2 or 3 rows then I have to rest for half hour or more before I can continue. not a lot of power. Worst mower I ever used and the store won't take it back so we are stuck with a piece of s---. and out a lot of money. Will never get another Toro again.

Edith,
We are sorry to hear you are having problems with your Toro mower.

Traditionally, Push mowers feel heavier to as they have no self-propelled system. Thank You for the suggestion. We will make our design team aware of your feedback. As battery technology improves, we hope to be able to offer a lighter model in the future.
