Not Running Smooth
mower was not running smooth when i first started using it. i told the store about it. they said to bring it in, i did. they charged me $15.00 to tell me i was using the wrong gas.

I was using the gas the operating manual said, 87 octane with 10% ethanol. they told me the people writing the manual did not know what they were writing.

What's Blade Override?
Think about your old lawnmower. Every time you let go of the handle the engine shut off.

Move a ball. Shut off the engine.

Pick a weed. Shut of the engine.

Release the handle of any reason and the engine shuts off for safety.

But... if the blade isn't spinning, there aren't any hazards.

Basically, Toro's blade override system allows the engine to keep running but stops the blade from spinning.

Yes, it's convenient.

The better benefit, however, is reduced wear on the... more

Best Yet
I am 76 years old so I have had many mowers. This is the best yet. I actually look forward to mowing my lawn.

I brought it home and assembled it, put in the oil, filled the gas tank, turned the on button to On, pulled the starter rope once, and it started. I usually can start it with just one pull. ( except when I forget to turn the off/on button to on- remember I'm 76).

I love the blade override, and the walk along speed control. The only negative thing I found was the hose port. I can... more

Warranty Problem
Seriously the dumbest purchase I ever made- the mower lasted three cuts and fell apart. Wheels came off, drive system locked up.

I called the Toro service rep (Frames) in Chester County Pa, and they said they wouldn't fix it because I didn't buy it there. Going in the trash can. I'm out like $500 bucks.

Joe,
Toro's warranty policy is that a Toro Authorized Service Facility has to do the warranty repair, no matter where it's purchased.

We contacted Toro on your behalf; they are sending the parts you need directly to you at no charge.

They will also contact the folks at Frame's and review their Warranty Policy.

For the future, the Service Locator on our web site shows several other service locations close by- West Chester Lawn & Garden; Brandywine Ace Hardware, also in West Chester- as well as 6 others in outlying towns.

There's no need to go where you won't get good service!

The Third Mower In My Shed
My mower was extremely ill and hard to use. The self-propel feature no longer worked and it wouldn't roll backwards.

I went to my local hardware and picked up a cheap mower- not self propelled with no bagger. That was not a good buy.

So I checked my Consumer Reports and the next mower I purchased was rated as a Best Buy- and it was. I now love my mower.

The only way I could be happier is if it was a rider, it works just great. The bagger is easy to empty and it is a great feature not... more

Desperate For A Working Mower
I first checked my consumers reports where this mower was rated as a best buy. The price was comparable and I was amazed at how quickly my mower arrived. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and the way it works.

Good Mower Tough Features
The quality of this mower is very good. Starts first pull as advertised. Mows good and is not slowed by tall grass. The personal pace feature is very hard to control. The handle moves easily so it's always changing speeds on a bumpy lawn. The mowers great but I would not get the personal pace again.
Pros: Durable, Price, Exceeded Expectations, Reliable
Cons: Difficult To Use, Personal Pace Is Hard To Use

Great Mower/poor Assembly
The mower came as expected, and the assembly was easy. However, when I began operating the mower I was not halfway done mowing the lawn when the rear drive transmission wheel fell off. Lucky for me, I am a mechanical person, so I was able to locate all the parts after they fell off and reassemble.

After torquing the bolt to about 20 lbs/in., the wheel has not fallen off since. I read a similar review where this had happened and I thought it was just an angry customer until it happened to... more

Great Lawn Mower And Great Service
I have had Toro mower for several years, and I bought this mower for my daughter. It works great, much better than her other mower. The Toro cuts her thick St. Augustine grass without slowing or stalling out.

Newer Not Always Better
I bought a Toro 23-25-years ago it worked great for 17 years it had a Kawasaki motor on it. The self-propelled finally stopping working. So I bought another Toro this one had a Briggs and Stratton engine. 6 years later it has stopped running I took it to a dealer and they said I need a new engine. Who knew there would be so much difference between engines. I changed the oil in the last Toro never thought about it with the old Kawasaki.

Just Right
Wife mows for exercise at our house. Bought this mower because it's easy to start, and for three other reasons. Asked the wife what she liked best about her new mower, and she listed the three features I had best liked when purchasing it:

1. Blade stop system no need to kill the engine when emptying the bag.
2. Can turn bagging on or off with the simple flip of a lever.
3. Personal pace variable speed self propel system.

Dies After 2 And Half Seasons
It was good while it lasted. Got open box at good discount and it worked for a while. Love the clutch feature, personal pace is ok as well until the belt stretched after 2 years and it was not helping that much anymore. Clutch needs to be engaged slowly. Cut quality was never great, but I could live with it.

I have 1/2 acre property and it takes 2.5-3 hours to cut it all, done (almost) weekly. Never bagged, mulch and side discharge. Oil change and general tuneup I did twice between seasons. more
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Expensive

Noisy
When I start my mower and engage the self-propel it makes a noise like metal grinding. It mows okay, but the noise and when I try to mow the bank it will not pull it.
