Terrible Battery, No Support
Initial battery lasted less than one summer. Replacement battery lasted less than two weeks. Local service recommended by Remington would not return calls.

Blade ships dull. Poor cut.

Remington Cordless Mower
Ordering the mower was easy. Shipping time was excellent. Assembly was simple. But when I tried to charge the battery I had a problem. Manual states initial battery charge to be at least 14 hours. The indicator light on the charger was red when I first plugged it in. After 14 hours it still showed red and battery was not charged. I called customer service and spoke with a technician. He felt that the battery was defective. They sent me another battery. It arrived within 4 days. I plugged the... more

As I have had a reduction in my ability to walk and this made my gas mower too large and heavy to handle one handed, I needed to find a mower that was both light weight and small enough for me to be able to use one handed. So far, this mower fills that bill very nicely.

Even An 82 Year Old Can Assemble And Use It!
Yes, even at my age this mower works well, it is a little heavier than I expected but since my lawn is very small, I do manage to cut it my self. Good exercise and takes me away from my knitting and out of my recliner. I'm glad I convinced myself to give it a try.

P.S. I wish I could find a small battery operated string edger. I'm afraid of the weight. : (

Great For Small Yards.
I bought this mower because I did not want a gas mower. So far it has worked well. The only thing I really do not like about it is the weight of it with the battery in it. Without the battery it is very light but with the battery a gas mower is a bit lighter. I have a small yard and it does a great job of mowing it, easy to start, and seems to do well with getting around tight areas in my yard. The bag is rather small but if used in mulch or side discharge I don't have to stop after a few rows... more

Saty Away Of This
It worked good for the first 2-3 times.

Then one day, the battery was very hot and ready to explode while on charge.

I called the costumer service and they said that the battery is not covered by warranty.

They gave me a number of a dealer, but they were closed.

I am very disappointed for my time I spend to try to open a warranty claim. It is impossible.

Now the 3 months since I bought the piece of .... and the warranty is gone.

Money flushed down the toilet.

Makes Cutting My Grass Less Of A Chore And More Fun
I love the super easy start and stop. Gas mowers you normally keep running because it's hard to re-start. So, when you're doing a turn around you just keep it running. Now, when I do my turn around I stop the mower, put it right where I want to start up again and then re-start. Also, helps to extend my battery life. So far I've been able to cut my front twice and back once on a single charge...maybe 60-80 minutes.

The only negative is that the battery charger light does not turn green when... more

About Right
Good mower to trim out or small yard. With the right height setting enough power, and plenty of battery for my uses. I've used it three times and haven't had to recharge it yet. I bought the Remington because I've owned two of their electric chain saws for 10 years and they're still cutting wood. Hope the mower does as well.

Glad I Bought It!
I don't have a small yard - it's about 1/3 acre of grass and the rest natural woodlands (2 1/2 acres) total. Our old gas mower broke and our yard was a sight.

My husband and I are in our 60's - we looked at riding mowers, other self-propelled gas mowers. He balked at this mower - said it could not be powerful enough to actually work. Well, it is, and it does a great job.

I have mowed for 45 minutes and still have lots of charge left. It's not that heavy to push (and lighter than... more

I ordered this mower and it has never worked. I called the manufacturer and they said the mower was three years old and the battery was probably bad. They sent me a new battery but it still didn't work. They gave me the name of THREE service centers but all of them said they wouldn't service the mower.

I called the manufacturer once again and they found someone to look at the mower, only problem is its a hour away. I have to now drive an hour each way and if they can't fix it while I'm... more

Love my new Remington Cordless Mower. Was easy to assemble (did it by myself!). I'm the envy of the neighborhood. The only thing I would suggest would be to add a self-propelling feature which would help since the battery adds a lot of weight to the mower.

Great Mower
I needed a compact battery mower for use at a cabin. The grass is mixed with weeds and the terrain uneven.

The mower works great. It's sturdy and may be about hard to push on an incline if you are not a little strong. The blade is really sharp and cuts thru even new black berry shoots. Yeah!

My only critique is that it doesn't have the vacuum power of a gas mower so some grass and weeds, especially if just a little damp, which is common in the northwest, get flattened by the mower... more

Would Not Recommend
Not quite one-year later I've got a dead battery, leaving me with 2 weeks credit under the 1-yr battery warranty. New battery is $192.26, so with about $7 credit I'm looking at $185 to be able to use my basically new mower. Customer service says beware of over-charging, but the manual doesn't mention that and it warns about not charging enough (need to charge every 60 days when not in use).

After A Little Struggle, It Works Great
Arrived just two days after ordering it. Fast shipping. Took it out of the box and read the instructions, charged the battery and I thought I was off to mow. I didn't know that the big orange button was the one I needed to make it mow and I kept pressing the reset button. After I figured that out, it worked great. No more trying to start my old gas mower. I gave that to my son so he can fight with it.

Exactly What I Needed
I recently divorced and bought a home with a small front and back yard. I'm in my 40's and had never mowed.

I saw this same mower at a local chain store and bought it for less at Mowers Direct, with no tax and free shipping.

It's a great light mower. I can mow my yard 4 times before recharging. I live in a planned community in California, so lots are on the smaller side, but you have to mow every week - year round.

I was worried about being able to start a gas mower, so my Dad... more

Good Mower But Prefer My Old B&d
Bought to replace 10-yr old cordless B&D. Have used it once and it's nice but it's much louder than my B&D which cut at least as well. Easier height adjustment on B&D. Seems more durable than B&D. Great service on purchase from MowersDirect.

Battery Issues - Solution
I just bought one used for $50, and have examined but not opened the battery (which is still holding a charge). I'm assuming this battery pack contains either two 7 amp or two 12 amp lead acid gel batteries. These are available for much less than the $175 (lowest Googled price) for a replacement battery assembly. The diagram seems to show two of these 12 volt batteries with push-on spade contact jumpers. Ebay has the 12 volt 7 amp batteries for $18 each.
Pros: Quiet, Easy To Use, Price, Battery Can Be Hacked
Cons: Heavy, Replacement Parts For Non-techs Expensive

Common Theme-dead Battery
I followed the directions for storing and charging the battery. Worked like a charm last year. Will not hold a charge this year. Disappointing because I really liked this mower. Not sure what to do now. Will not buy a battery because I can buy a new gas mower for the same money. Was excited to use electric because of ease of use. Experiment failed. Back to gas I guess.

Not Worth The Money
I used my Remington 18A-212B783 only one summer, and then the battery would no longer recharge. I cannot find a replacement battery (part 725-05089) as there is no store within 100 miles that carries the battery (they just sell the mower!), and the battery cannot be shipped directly due to regulatory restrictions on "wet" (acid-filled) batteries.

What I thought would be a convenient mower, turned out to be a rip-off.

I have been very pleased with the mower purchased through Mowers Direct. The mower, a 19" Remington 24-volt cordless push, cuts cleanly, depositing the cut grass into the bag.

Neil,
Sorry you are having issues with the height adjustment, the Single Lever controls all 4 Wheels and should adjust it with ease. Does the handle look bent in any way? If it is bent or the bracket is bent and won't allow the handle to move, please let us know as this could be shipping damage.
