Battery Removal Was Easy!
I beg to differ with the guy who griped about this mower because he couldn't remove the battery. In fact, I had seen another review of this mower elsewhere that politely suggested that it might not be a good choice for the "mechanically challenged." Nonsense!
--Anyone who can't deal with this machine has no business buying ANY riding mower. Folks-- they all need maintenance and a bit of mechanical knowledge. I'M not a pro mechanic, but I can use basic tools and read. If one... more

Safety Switches Are Not So Well Thought Out
The grass chute has a big area that is open if you remove it, so the engineers put a safety switch on it to keep the mower from starting if not in place. This sounds good - but the way they mounted the switch does not really work.

The switch will disengage when the chute is in place, the mower dies and you have to remove and re attach the chute. Many times per mow. I had recommended on of these to my friend, he had the same problem. He bypassed the switch.

I did not want to do it, and... more

Awesome
the deck spout has a switch that kills the mower if you bump it at all. so I adjusted it a bit and now its fine.

the NO mow in reverse is stupid but easy to fix.

mows good, my lawn is pretty flat though.

overall I love this thing, beats the heck out of pushing a mower.
I think it was over priced, I'd happier $200 less but I guess you pay what they want, if you want it
Pros: Easy To Use, Exceeded Expectations, Features, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Expensive

Good Little Mower
I bought mine in March 2012 and mow about 1/2 acre of basically flat lawn. Have a lot of plants and trees to go around. It's been great to use with no problems at all. I purchased a 5 year warranty and have never used it. I change the oil and this year I had to install a new battery. (It is a little difficult to r & r the battery) I would, and have recommended this mower to friends. I also use a 22 inch Craftsman lawn mower and a 19.5 volt Craftsman weed eater. All work great.

Bypass Switch
Inability to mow in reverse is a real pain. How can I bypass the safety switch on my Craftsman Mower?

Wears Out Too Fast
The steering on this mower is the worst! I go through two racks each year. It is not designed to do much work. I have a 10,000 sq. ft. yard and it is not designed for extended use.

Lousy Steering
I have a 10,000 square foot yard. I purchased the lawn mower last summer. I have replaced the steering 4 times and it needs it again. Terrible design! Low quality parts. Starts easy and bags pretty well.
Pros: Quiet, Fast
Cons: Unreliable, Durability

Mr.
The clutch is a real neck snapper.
The wheels give a really rough ride, on all but the smoothest lawns.
Had to have the repairman start it.
He almost burned out the starter before realizing the carburetor was not adjusted from the factory.

Mr
I cut over 5 acres with a Craftsman PGT9000 with 54" deck, but around the house, it is way to big to get around my wife's plants. So really I got it for my wife to use around the house and her plants. She has had no problems with it of any kind, and it was used every week since May till last month.

The only thing I dislike about it, is the deck is hung from the frame, and is not free floating, so if the mower it at a angle, the cut will be at a angle. Not really a problem, as around the... more

Great Mower
The only problem I have is the the catcher. No store carries it in stock. You must order and then wait 10 days to see what you got.

Worst Mower I Ever Had
I purchased this mower as a new model which just came out in 2012. The first year was okay, only I didn't like that you couldn't mow in reverse. You even had to disengage the blades while in neutral to back up, and then restart them when you shift from neutral to whatever gear you choose. At the start of mowing season I needed a new battery. This battery was so jammed in it was unreal. No one at the Sears outlet store knew how to take the battery out. So I called the Sears help line on the web.... more

8 Service Calls And Counting
Do not buy this mower. I have had it approximately 2 years and have had 8 service calls and they still will not replace it. What has become of Sears reliability and standing behind their products?.. If someone has to call this many times doesn't common sense say it should be replaced?...

Terrible product, terrible service and totally shabby Sears.

2012 25000 Model
There has been well documented problems with the transmissions of the 29000 and 25000 model. The trans will cease up and wont go anywhere, but they have refused to recall them or stand behind them if you have had the mower for 1 day past the two year warranty. DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY!!!

Craftsman 30" 420 Cc 6 Speed Rider Rear Engine Mover
Owned this mower for less than a year without a single problem. Reviewing the negative comments make me wonder about people and their trouble shooting ability? This is a great inexpensive mower for small yards with minimal inclines and uneven surfaces. Maintenance for many people is putting fuel in it and expect it to work every time. Guess what? It takes a little time and work on everyone's part to keep lawn equipment in proper running order. My best recommendation is read the owners manual... more

Good Mower Bad Steering
I have had it for 2 weeks, and the steering snapped. It won't turn right and when you use your foot to push the wheel, it doesn't want to turn back. The deck rattles annoyingly while you mow, I thought it was something loose but never located any loose bolts or objects.

For the price I paid for this I could have gotten the 6" radius tractor, but I didn't want a big heavy tractor. It mows great and will cut the grass very smooth and even. It doesn't have a floating deck so look out for... more

Get On It, And Cut The Grass
Not bad of a price. Pay for what you get ....if you want something more expensive! Buy a snapper. I think its great for a 1/2 acre. Great for mowing around plants, little trees. Like for me. I've had no trouble with mine.. the clutch is a little jumpy.

But once it gets going... head set on.. away I go. I enjoy it because there's not a big long hood in front of you. U can c everything in front of u. I have a above ground pool and l like to get as close to it as I can.
