Q: I am a small woman and have a small ish yard; I used to have a Neuton mower that died. Do you recommend the 35 lb mower?? I really want a rechargeable mower. What are the disadvantages of this mower?? by Barbara L Beutler from Wisconsin on April 12, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. This mower is perfect for a smallish yard. It is durable, lightweight and will provide 35 minutes of continuous use. The battery will recharge in 2 hours or less. The only disadvantage is that is on the light end of the cordless mower category. The Greenworks brand is another brand to look at. It is among the higher grade cordless push mowers. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: I have been looking to buy a Cordless electric mower, have read tone of reviews and articles, have come down to a few choices, the Toro e-cycle 20360, Black & Decker cm 1936, Recharge Mower PMLI-14 I can't seem to find much about The recharge Mower. And the worx cordless mower, what do you think is the best for run time, durability, and whatever you think about my choices, I use mulch settings, I like the ion battery, but don't know if that is a good mower. I do like the weight of the Recharge but not enough reviews. Thank You For Your Time Jenell by Jenell from Idaho on March 29, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. If you are in themarket for a cordless electric mower I would recommend the Toro e-cycler. It is as close to a conventinal moer as you will get without using gasoline. by Todd, Product Expert

Mower
Well I like the weight of it. The width 14" makes it harder to complete the job. I find that the highest height still is not the 6" that I want when putting on lowest setting it stalls with clumps of grass so I have to bag it have not been able to use mulch setting as it will stall. Its still is a good mower though, and I wish it ran for more that 30 min. Cleaning the underneath is difficult since you can not hose it off...it beats having gas/oil motors... That's all...James

Best Mower, Period.
I've used several electric mowers, ranging from corded electric black and decker to cordless Toros. This blows them out of the water. The weight of the battery and the versatility of the mower are second to none, quite literally: there are no other mowers on the market that are this light or maneuverable. If you're looking for a way to mow your lawn quickly, quietly and without much hassle, this is the winner.
In the fall, I actually used the mower as a lightweight leaf mulcher to pick up loose leaves as it sucks them up with ease. I purchased an extra battery from Recharge's website, since the battery just gave out with a small section of my lawn left to mow. You'll notice as the charge gets to the end of its life, the mower doesn't spin up quite as fast, but once it gets going it cuts just the same. The batteries cost an additional $150, but that's no different than an inferior non-Lithium battery for any other mower, so there's really no tradeoff there.
The range is excellent though, my yard has lots of weird shapes and I like to be pretty meticulous going over certain sections, and at half an acre I can get through it when it's pretty dry in one battery (the higher and wetter it is the longer it will obviously take you).
Great product, I NEVER write reviews, but felt compelled because of how pleased I am. My 70 year old mother loves to mow the lawn now because it's so hassle free now.

End of Season Report
I think these will be my last comments about this mower. I am still happy with the purchase, but continue to see problems with the mechanical design. I stopped putting the front wheel covers back on after about the seventh time they fell off. The latest issue has to do with the grass catcher. The nylon mesh already has a hole in it near the bottom.
The battery remained strong all season and my son even made a few bucks mowing the neighbor's lawn after they moved out and the house remained on the market. His lawn was mostly dense crabgrass, which was a real challenge to get through with the lighter weight blade, so we had to mow early and often to stay ahead.
The blade also stayed sharp and I only worked on it once.

Highly recommend it for those who have smaller lawns.

Good mower
It is perfect for my flat yard. The only negative comment I have is that the rear flap broke off after the second time using the mower.

Disappointing performance
As another reviewer noted, the rear flap is useless and will break off immediately if you pull the mower backward. This is not good if you have to use the mower at the highest setting, as you do if the grass is long. It can fling objects at you at high velocity.
The battery recharger stopped working after the first recharge. I have been unable to find a replacement, but I have not been able to call the company yet as they are closed for a three-day holiday. Waiting weeks for a replacement to arrive will be a severe inconvenience this time of year.
The engine is not powerful enough to lift clippings from a sidewalk into the grass bag. The vacuum is insufficient to lift long or wet grass.
If you have a very small lawn and keep it short without fail, this might be a good mower for you...if the recharger doesn't break.

Since I have to bring my mower up stairs from the basement to cut my small front yard, the Recharge Mower is the perfect fit for my situation.

I love this mower
I used this mower for the first time today. I am a smaller woman and not too strong. This isn't the most powerful mower and doesn't cut thru tall grass with ease. But it is LIGHT, easy to push, easy to start, easy to assemble and easy to adjust the cutting height.
I had to do some areas twice as the grass was a little long but the light weight, no starting worries, or no gas fumes or smell far outweighed the longer mowing time. I highly recommend this mower especially for a smaller person who has a hard time, as I always have, starting and pushing a typical heavy mower. This is easier even than a self propelled mower. My mowing job was a pleasant low to moderate workout instead of the usual smelly sweaty arm busting misery.

Recharge Update
I've had the mower for about a month now, and wanted to provide people with the benefit of my experience. I'm still very happy with the unit and have recently switched to bagging as the lawn continues to grow. The cut is good.
As I mentioned in my previous review, I had a few doubts about the mechanical design of the mower. I'll add two more points to this statement: 1) the rear 'flap' is too big and the blade ripped mine off the unit about the second or third mowing when I was pulling it backwards. Doesn't really matter though as it was rather useless to begin with. 2) I keep losing the front right wheel cover as I gently bump into things. The hubcap-like thing pops right off.
Another key point concerns the blade. It's made of a lighter gauge steel and is smaller than any other I've ever seen. The plus-side to this is that it's very easy to sharpen; minus-side is you can't buy one in any local store.
As for the battery, I haven't noticed any decrease in performance yet, and I'm careful to fully drain the unit before each charge which means I get 1.5 mowings per charge. So every other time requires that I start in the morning and finish in the afternoon. I do think it takes more like 5-6 hours to get a full charge.

So far, so good
After reading everything I could find on-line about battery operated lawn mowers, I narrowed my choices down to only those containing Lithium Ion batteries based on the drawbacks associated with lead-acid alternatives. More than just the extra weight, reviews for lead-acid powered units always mentioned the slow and steady death of the charging and mowing abilities.
That choice gave me about three alternatives, but the Bosch unit wasn't available in the U.S. and I didn't want a reel mower. So the Recharge was the only viable solution. I purchased it from Mowers Direct based on the discount and free shipping and waited for it to arrive. Despite a lack of tracking information, I received the mower in about seven days via FedEx.
Cutting to the chase, I like it. The battery seems to charge in about 3-4 hours and gives me plenty of power to cut a fairly typical lawn on my 1/3rd acre parcel. I ran it to the limit the first time trying to fully exercise the discharge/recharge capabilities and did about 1 & 12 jobs before it went from nearly full power to fully drained--as reported. The mower starts easily with the push of a button and is very quiet all you hear is the whir of the blade. It also stops in about a second after you release the safety bar.
The best part is that my 10 year-old son can easily operate the Recharge and I'm not worried about his safety. It's very light, so he can easily steer it up and down the lawn and since we're mulching, there are no clipping to drag along and eventually empty. He's looking forward to the summer using the 'money machine' to earn new video games and gadgets. I'm guessing we'll be cutting at least every week into July when the North Carolina weather gets hot and dry and the lawn grow slows to a crawl.
Pros:
1. Simple start
2. Weight
3. Doesn't get hot
4. Easy to hose off
5. Quick adjustments
Cons:
1. Lightweight causes a bit of bouncing
2. One rear wheel seems to wobble a bit
3. Lacks impact power of gas (so keep-up with the chore)
I'll post another review later this summer if the story hear changes, but so far I'd recommend this mower as a great alternative to gas for people that have smaller lawns and not a lot of terrain or uneven/bumpy patches.
