Q: I have a yard with these super thin weeds, or spindle "grass seed", for lack of better terms that grow about 8 to 10 inches high. I have a cheap reel mower that I thinking about replacing because when I mow, the mower leaves these long thing behind me. It just folds them under. Will this lawn mower get these weeds or is this just a pipe dream? Thanks a Million. by Brad Martin from Indiana on August 02, 2011
A: Brad - None of the reel mowers that we carry are going to handle any type of weed or grass that is 8 to 10 inches in length. This type of vegetation is just too long for a reel mower. If you want to stick with a reel mower to maintain your yard, I would suggest a cordless electric string trimmer to keep the long, thin weeds under control. by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Hi Todd, Would you please tell me where the mower was made? Thanks. by Rik Snyder from South Carolina on June 06, 2011
The NaturCut Ideal 40 will not only make your lawn look great, it will also save you time and money in maintenance and up-keep.
What makes the NaturCut Ideal 40 the best option when looking for a reel mower is the minimal contact cutting system. When it comes to most reel mowers, the blades make regular contact with the bed-knife of the mower making sharpening a regular task. This cost will add up and take a good amount of time to keep these blades sharp. The NaturCut Ideal 40 makes little to no contact every time with the bed-knife, which keeps your blades sharp for up to eight years before they would need to be sharpened again.
The NaturCut Ideal 40 is great for just about any North American grass type including Bermuda. It offers an infinite height setting-up to 2.75" and allows the user to mow high or short grass with relative ease. The only downside to this mower is it is not recommended for cutting Zoysia, but not many reel mowers are!
If you are looking for the pristine golf course look you can get with a reel mower and don't want the hassle of constantly sharpening blades, the NaturCut Ideal 40 would be the mower for you.

Very Good Reel Mower
Very good mower - easy to put together and easy to use.
Some of the other ratings were correct in that this type of mower is for specific types of grass. For example, our front yard had been reseeded and is primarily Kentucky bluegrass. No problem there, although you might want to cross cut (cut it a second time at a 90 degree angle) for a really nice cut.
In my backyard, it's a little more difficult as its a hodgepodge of weeds and different types of grasses. If you want a good cut and you work to maintain your lawn on a regular basis, this is a great mower.

Reel Mower
Am renting and owners loaned me a sears mower to mow the small lawn. It stinks, i dislike putting gas in it and it takes
over 6 pulls to start it (it is called an 'easy start' mower, not now!.) I HAD ENOUGH.
Decided to get an old fashioned REEL MOWER. Got this one mainly because it only needs sharpening every 5+ years and it seems highly rated. I buy quality items, not cheap one's.
It works well, just needs adjusting for the height you want it to cut. I admit however I am surprised at the number of PLASTIC
PARTS on it, I did not expect that at all, although the blades and the handles are metal.

Great Little Mower
It's been a few years since I last used a push mower but this one has changed everything. It handles Bermuda grass effortlessly and with my small lawn I can easily mow it several times over just for the fun of it. I'm very pleased with the quality and construction. Assembly was a snap and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to Go Green.

Cuts Well
Love my new mower. It was very easy to order, arrived quickly and was a snap to put together. I had it out of the box and was cutting my grass in 10 minutes. I live in a new condo and the association takes care of the landscaping unless you fence in any portion. I have 2 Yorkies and fenced in a small area in the rear so we would have some room to play off leashes, therefore, the need for the mower. The mower cuts the grass well and since it's a small area, I am very happy that the mower is light and easy to maneuver. Great purchase!!

Leaves More Than It Cuts!!
I bought this based on many reviews, it's expensive and I am on SSD so this was a major outlay of cash for me.....very disappointed, here in the Southeast, it cut virtually nothing except clover. The height adjustment is a joke, infinite setting, which means you have to line it up carefully and precisely before tightening the knobs, no dedicated slots, which would have been an excellent idea for so pricey a mower.
I've used way less expensive reel mowers in the past, and gotten great results, so I am really amazed at this poor cutting, and difficult pushing, at any height!
Don't buy into the video, or else, I got a dud.

I live in Phoenix and just re-landscaped my back yard, removing about 3/4ths of the grass I used to have. I decided to get rid of my old gas mower in favor of a reel push mower. With the new quiet mower, I could cut my lawn at first light which in Phoenix is about 5:45 AM in the summer without worrying about waking the neighbors. I now have about 700 square feet of tiffgreen. After reading your reviews, I chose the NaturCut 16040.
The lawnmower and bag were very easy to assemble and took me about 15 minutes. Then, it only took me about 12 minutes to cut the lawn and that was going over it three times to make it look good (twice length wise and once perpendicular). One of the problems I noticed immediately was that the mower is so light in weight that it seemed to "float" over the grass. I have learned to push down on the handle as I mow. Hence the reason for multiple passes.
The worst problem I have experienced was that on only the third mowing of the lawn, the left side wheel fell off! I took the red plastic cap off the hub of the wheel and saw that a retaining clip and washer had come off. I got a pair of pliers and slipped the clip back on and replaced the hubcap. I am not confident that the clip will stay on so I might be calling the service department soon. Otherwise, it seems to be a decent mower.

Like It
My husband assembled the handles quickly and we both tried it out. He thinks it is a good mower, but prefers the speed of a gas powered mower. I mowed yesterday and liked it. No, it's not fast like a gas powered mower, but if time is not an issue, why not use a quiet, efficient machine that makes a necessary task into a light workout?
