Q: What does it mean 50:1 for gas?

A: Joanne - all 2-cycle gas engines require the operator to "mix" the gas and oil together before filling the gas tank on the engine. Think about oil and vinegar dressing on a salad. For an engine that is a 50:1 mix, you would use 50 parts gas to 1 part oil for the proper fuel mix to run the engine at it's optimal level. Exact mix proportions will be on the bottle of 2-cycle engine oil - that is, how much oil goes into one gallon or one quart of gasoline.

Great trimmer out of the box, powerful and light weight. You cant go wrong with this trimmer, and at the sale price its 2nd to none. Get an extra trimmer head as parts for it are a little hard to get in some areas. I would buy this product again, but I wont need to as I have a small yard and not too much trimming to do.
