The Husqvarna RZ5424 zero turn riding mower is the largest “homeowner” model Husqvarna offers, and this mower combines an impressive array of features at a price that will surprise you.
The Husqvarna RZ5424 includes an impressive 54” mower deck that leaves a swath of freshly mown grass in its wake. The very reliable 24 HP Kawasaki twin cylinder engine gives all the power one could ask for - this engine is also seen on many professional grade machines. The Hydro-Gear EZT transmissions on both drive wheels are also typical of pro-grade mowers. Blade engagement is from the electric PTO.
Convenient control placement, foam padded steering levers and an adjustable seat make these units easy to operate, and fun to drive.
The Husqvarna RZ5424 combines maneuverability, efficiency and reliability at an affordable price. True zero-turn mower performance that will help you mow your large yard in less time than you thought possible.

Super Mower
My husband suggested we purchase the Husqvarna RZ5424 Zero Turn Mower after our lawn tractor quit working. I am the primary user because I find mowing grass very relaxing. I was so pleased when the new mower arrived within just a few days after I ordered it. We uncrated it following the instructions that were enclosed. The instructions included a list of things to do prior to starting the mower, so my husband took care of those.
Since I have never previously owned a zero turn mower, I sat on it with the instruction booklet in my lap and practiced with the motor off. It was easy to start and I started out very slowly to a large area of grass. It took only a short time for me to become very comfortable with this mower, and I ended up mowing a pretty large tract. In fact, I didn't want to stop.
I absolutely love this mower. It is fun to drive and the large cutting area makes mowing our slightly more than an acre property a breeze. I actually got on it again today and mowed some of the same area I mowed yesterday a second time, just because cutting grass with this mower is so much fun.

The concept is good especially being able to disconnect the drives when needing to push the mower without wanting to start the engine....You should do something though about going up hills, here in Pennsylvania we have many places where there are slight hillocks maybe 5 or 6 feet high that are part of our yards. attempting to climb a hill to mow almost upset the mower, would it be possible to install a temporary removable weight to the front end to allow climbing small hills for mowing, say two 50 lb weights on quick release holders located across the front floor pan rail?
I have only used the mower once since purchasing it due to the outside temperatures, I feel satisfied but because of the bank in my backyard approximately 50 feet long and about 4 or 5 feet high it takes longer than it should. With my old mower a Kabota 4200, that I still have but relegated to using it as a snowplow only because in my old age it takes me all day to change back and forth from mower to snow plow. With the Kabota I am able to drive either up or down the hills while mowing.
I am 83 years old so that is the reason that it takes so long to change the Kabota from mowing to snow plowing. With the Husqvarna I have to mow going down the hill and run the length of the bank each and every time which increases the mowing time that I would have saved using the zero turn mower.
With removable weights on the front end I would be able to go up and down most of the bank that I am talking about....part of it is too steep to go up approx 20 feet long or so, the rest of the bank is not that steep.
All in all I am satisfied but like I said I have only used it the one day ask me again in a month or so.
Thanks Jim P.

After much research I decided on the Husqvarna 54" zero turn to replace a 54" garden tractor. The unit was delivered promptly and after uncrating minor assembly (less then 20 minutes) and checking, oil, tire, etc. I filled the tank with gas and started it up. After a few minutes of warm up and checking for leaks (none) tried it out. A few days later I started to mow the lawn after less then two hours the drive belt fell off. Pushing it back to the house I left it till the weekend. The quality control did not check the nut on the pulley or it was not tightened properly.
After tightening the nut and re-installing the belt -all is o-k! I finished the lawn which normally took just about 4 hours and with the zero turn it took just over 3 hours. More practice I hope to drop it to 2-1/2 hours!
