Q: TODD - Regarding question 11 - this trimmer does have an engage and disengage for the rotating head. It is the pull down bar just at the top of the handle. You must hold that bar down against the handle to engage the rotating cutting head. If you release it, the trimmer keeps running, but the spinning head is disengaged. by Buck from North Carolina on August 04, 2011
A: Thanks for the info Buck. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Does this trimmer have an automatic string (line) feed or is it small little hunks of line that you need to replace manually if it breaks off? We have a piece of property (not big) that is a mixture of weeds, volunteer trees (buckthorne) and small top tree roots, would this be a good trimmer to use; as I don't want to mow it with the blade mower. Thanks for the help. by Beth Kryzak from Illinois on July 21, 2011
A: Beth - all of the gas walk-behind string trimmers that we carry (including the Husqvarna HUS625HWT) would use multiple strands of pre-cut trimmer line. These strands do need to be replaced by hand when they fray or break off altogether. However, the pre-cut strands of trimmer line used in this type of trimmer are much thicker and more durable than the typical trimmer line found on hand held string trimmers. As for the property you have described, I don't think any of the gas, walk behind string trimmers are going to "tame" your vegetation. I don't think you will be able to trim back or cut down any of the volunteer tree's or buckthorne - I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure these are going to be too tall and too thick around for this type of trimmer to handle effectively. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: does this device (Husqvarna HUS625HWT) use just regular gasoline or does it use a gasoline-oil mixture? Thanks by Phil on June 29, 2011
A: Phil - this model has a 4-cycle engine, so you put 87 octane regular grade gasoline in the gas tank, and the motor oil goes in the crankcase, just like on your car. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: How do I purchase replacement blades for the HUS625HWT walk behind string trimmer? by Patty from Washington on June 26, 2011
A: Patty - this product does not use "blades". It uses a heavy gauge vinyl trimmer line. Here is what you need: high wheel trimmer line by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Todd, I'm about ready to order the HUS625HWT, walk behind string trimmer. Man I know this is gonna help keep my acre of weeds under control. Question: I would like to purchase extra line. Do you stock any, and what size is it? Thanks man! Bruce by Bruce from California on June 19, 2011
A: Bruce - we do carry replacement line for our walk behind gas string trimmers. It is a .155 diameter line, and it comes in a package of pre-cut lengths that will fit most walk behind gas string trimmers Trimmer line by Todd, Product Expert
Q: I am considering buying this as a replacement to a push mower that just died. I have a rider for most of the mowing and I need this for our vacant property for the tall stuff. Do you think that this would be okay for light mowing on a small yard? I don't see the sense in buying another push mower if I have this. Does it give a fairly smooth cut on regular yard grass? by Vince from Michigan on June 14, 2011
A: Vince - a walk behind string trimmer really isn't designed for standard grass mowing. It will definitely work for this purpose, but because you are doing the cutting with a series of thin, flexible trimmer lines instead of a rigid steel blade, you may find it difficult to cut your grass in an even, smooth manner. The cuts to your grass may be somewhat uneven. If you are looking for a smooth, even cut for your yard grass, you probably won't be happy with the results from a walk behind string trimmer. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Can this string trimmer be used on an unlevel surface, such as a hillside? I am looking for something mainly for that purpose but also to do trimming between hedges. by Kerry from Illinois on June 13, 2011
A: Kerry - yes, these walk behind string trimmer can be used on uneven surfaces and hillsides, as long as the slope is not greater than about 20 or 22 degrees. You will also be providing the "horsepower" to push one of these up and down the slopes, as none of these units have a drive system. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: im looking for a walk-behind trimmer i got one now its great i would like one that starts with a key other the dr i dont see any other is this true by Lois A Brown from Missouri on June 12, 2011
A: Lois - none of the walk behind string trimmers that we carry have an electric start feature. This is not a common feature on a walk behind string trimmer. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Is the 190cc high wheel trimmer easy to start? by James Vogel from New York on May 28, 2011
A: James - yes, the Briggs and Stratton 190cc engine on this model is very easy to start. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Is this model strickly pull start or is there a push button by Sheryle from Texas on May 28, 2011
A: Sheryle - this Husqvarna walk behind high wheel trimmer is strictly a recoil (pull) start. Husqvarna does not offer this trimmer with an electric (push button) start. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Does this machine need to be assembled? by Karol from Pennsylvania on May 26, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. All you will need to do is unfold the handle and tighten it into place. Then gas and oil the machine and it will be ready to go. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Once the engine is running, can you leave it running and engage and disengage trimmer at will. I have noticed some brands seem to be either engine and trimmer on or both off, not useful if you are moving between trim spots such as trees. Tried replacing a Craftsman with a Swisher, unsatisfied and returning Swisher. Thanks. by Whit from Virginia on May 22, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. This trimmer does not have the ability to engage and disengage the trimmer. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Does replacement line come with this purchase? Why cant I find replcement line for this model other than a different brand? by Linda Griswold from Ohio on March 20, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately extra line does not come with this model. If you visit your local Husqvarna dealer they can provide replacement line for you. by Todd, Product Expert

Todd's Recommendation
The Husqvarna HUS625HWT is designed to handle large areas of tall grass and thick weeds that would scare off ordinary lawn mowers or hand held string trimmers.
Powered by a hearty Briggs & Stratton engine, this string trimmer on wheels drives a powerful punch to areas of the lawn too large for a hand-held trimmer and too tight for a mower. With a cutting width of 22 inches, large trim jobs get done in less time.
The trim height adjusts easily from 1.6 to 3 inches and replacing the trimmer line takes only a few minutes. Mowing down the tallest, thickest grass and weeds is just flat out easier with the Husqvarna HUS625HWT.
The 12 inch high wheels roll over rough and hilly terrain with ease.
An all around great performer, the Husqvarna HU625HWT takes care of your tough trimming tasks while you enjoy the walk.

Good as any
I haven't had trimmer but just a few weeks, have found nothing wrong yet, so far does what it was designed to do. Pro. Trimmed one 35 foot row of thick, little finger size stalk tomato vines, two 35 foot rows thickly planted asparagus vines, same size stalk. Used about 1/4 tank fuel, no oil. It did work hard a few times! Only used about 1 1/2 " trimmer line size that came with trimmer. I think it did VERY WELL!!! So far I would recommend this trimmer to a friend.

Happy Ending
I previously owned a walk behind string trimmer, so when it gave out and I went to replace it locally. I found only
one machine at the big box store, and it was of poor quality. I searched the internet determined to find a decent one and found
your company. It turned out that the only way I was going to own a new one was to take a chance and order it online. Because I'm new at this and it wasn't chump change, I was nervous about doing this kind of business over the internet, especially not being able to physically look at the machine.
As it turned out I spoke with one of your representatives and he put a lot of my fears to rest and answered all my questions satisfactorily. The trimmer was at my door within a few days and the trucking company that brought it was more than helpful. Not only taking it off the truck without our help, but wheeling it up our ramp and delivering right to our door! He then took
extra time to open the box and had me inspect it before he left.
The best part is the trimmer runs great and we are completely satisfied with our entire experience. I highly recommend this product and your company for future purchases!

Cuts very well, good power. If your lawn is fairly flat then you are in business. Banks are a different story. This trimmer turns over very easily.

High Wheel String Trimmer
This has been a great machine since I took it out of the box. It started on the first pull of the rope, and proved to be the perfect solution to trimming weeds around the fence and trees on my 2 acres. I would recommend this to anyone with a large area to trim, much easier than lugging a hand held trimmer. Ordering from Mowers Direct was simple and easy plus it saved me money with no sales tax.

I like the mower, but the trimmer line has to be replaced often. I thought it would last longer.

High wheel 22" walk behind trimmer
I had a chain store brand prior but the engine quit. I went back to the chain store, but the prices were ridiculous.
I started a search locally but to no avail. I have a Husqvarna gas trimmer with a wire line, it's FANTASTIC. So, I started a new search and found a deal on the above High Wheel without tax or shipping.
What a great deal for me, as I am retired and on a limited income. I put oil and gas in the mower , pulled the start string once and it cuts fantastically until I shut it off.
Another well-built Husqvarna, and I am a regular fan now...

The perfect tool for what I need
I received my string mower two weeks ago, not knowing what to expect from the two previous reviews.
I first cleared a brushy area, heavier than what it was intended for, I am sure. It did a great job. The string broke off several times as I expected.
The string was very, very easy to install. I had pre-cut several pieces of line, so took 10 seconds to snap them in place.
My next job was 2-3 foot tall grass. Went right through it with no grass winding around the spool.
Two negatives for me are, the the wheels need to be bigger for rough terrain, and there are a lot of light weight plastic parts. We shall see how it holds up.
As far as I'm concerned it's the perfect tool for what I need.

Operators manual
I bought the trimmer 11/17/11. Can not find anything wrong with the trimmer so far, works great. I do like the cutter height adjuster, not on all others I have looked at. Those are the pros. The con is the operators manual. It does not mention the detent in the throttle control, I thought the detent was a defect, buy the hometown dealer checked all his stock and found it on all of them. The manual should be corrected to eliminate any confusion in the future. I would recommend the trimmer as a good buy.

Good for Tabletops
Purchased two week ago because extended period of Spring rains permitted lawn grass to reach excessive length. Also proposed to use machine to mow weeds-grass in orchard area.
Machine does excellent job cutting long, thick grass. Throws it to the right side so mowing in counter-clockwise direction around lawn means machine is no loaded by previously cut swath. But. And it is a big BUT. It is a bear to push. The small wheels mean that minor undulations in soil surface means that the cutter head digs in.
One must constantly alter push handle height to keep the cutter head above ground. Also, if there are lumps and bumps in the soil surface the wheels all but refuse to roll over them. I paid almost $500 for the unit and consider it poorly designed junk.

Replacement for a dept store model
I bought this as a replacement for a major dept. store model which I purchased 9 years ago.
Although the old one had a half horsepower more, there is no question the Briggs motor performs much better than the old Eager Techumseh. Far less vibration also. The only downside I have found is the Husqvarna has smaller wheels.
It is much easier to handle normally, but when cutting in an area with roots and stumps the bigger wheels have a big advantage.

Impressed
When I received my string trimmer, I immediately put it to use. It worked extremely well in the tall grass and weeds and had no problem going through the heavy undergrowth on my property.
There was no problem encountered with tall grass getting wound around the cutter assembly. This is a well built, heavy duty machine and I would recommend it.
I did incur one problem and that was with the wheels being loose on the axle which caused them to wobble. The problem was easily repaired by fitting one half inch ID sleeve bearings into the wheels and getting the proper washers installed.
All in all, I am impressed with the machine and Mowers Direct.

High wheel trim trimmer is not well engineered.
I bought the wheeled trimmer because I have tall grass and weeds (but not brush) so I needed a more heavy duty machine. With its 120 cc engine, I thought that's what this trimmer was.
I found the grass wraps around the thing that turns. It wraps around on the other trimmer also, but with my older pole-trimmer it's easy to fix the problem. With the wheel trimmer, it's spend a half hour mowing, then spend a half hour trying to get the grass unwound around the spindle thing.
The second thing, is that the string is really hard to install. My partner, even with his big tough man-fingers, needed a pair of pliers to pull that string hard enough to get it in the clip. I don't like to have to carry extra tools around to do what is ordinary mantainence.
Third, the trimmer struggled in grass that was lush even though it wasn't very tall.
This trimmer just is not very tough or very useful. For the amount of money I spent, i expected a heavy duty tool---not a toy. The trimmer did not deliver. Also, I thought the designers did not put their prototype thru very good testing or they would have noticed how awkward it is to clear the wound-on grass and change the cutter string.
MD RESPONDS: Husqvarna is very concerned about putting out a high-quality product that is easy to use.
You may wish to give their Tech Support folks a call at 800-448-7543; they should have some advice for you so the trimmer better suits your application.
They can also refer you to the closest Warranty Service location in case some adjustments need to be made.
That being said; we have found that sometimes pushing a high wheel trimmer ahead too quickly into tall grass or weeds will wrap them around the spindle.
If you let the strings take smaller bites with more of a back-and-forth motion, the stalks have a chance to fall and they may be less likely to tangle than if you try to cut a tunnel in one long push.

Serious trimmer
This is one serious trimmer. It will pretty much clear anything in it's path.
That said, I had hoped it would serve as my one 'all around trimmer,' which it won't. It's just too big and bad to trim small areas, or touchy spots.
Can't blame the machine for that though, not what it was made for.
If you have some serious cutting to do, this will get the job done!
