Q: So why does your site rate this for flast terrain and not hilly? I thought AWD mowers were supposed to be a good fit for hilly, irregular terrain.
by Dennis from Oregon on March 15, 2014

A: Dennis - you are absolutely correct. The Husqvarna all-wheel drive walk behind mowers are specifically designed for use on hilly, irregular terrain. The all-wheel drive system gives them improved traction and helps them climb hills and slopes more easily than a traditional self-propelled mower does.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: What is the bag capacity?
by Dave from Washington on October 19, 2013

A: Dave - the Husqvarna HU800AWD mower has a 2.4 cubic foot grass bag capacity.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Hi
Is the mower blade 532 40 67-11 the blade I should use on a Husqvarna HU800AWD mower?

by Dennis Barwig from Connecticut on June 27, 2013

A: Dennis - the Husqvarna HU800AWD mower requires a Husqvarna 580 24 40-01 replacement mower blade.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Does this mower have reverse? Thanks

by Gordon A Williamson, Mayor from Missouri on April 19, 2013

A: Gordon - there is no reverse gear or drive on the Husqvarna HU800AWD. The drive system will disengage so you can pull the mower backward, but it is not a power reverse.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Does the Husqvarna HU800AWD have a feature like Honda's Roto-Stop® Blade Brake Clutch? Also, is the AWD a real advantage on very steep hills over the rear drive models?
by Allan from Pennsylvania on April 13, 2013

A: Allan - the Husqvarna AWD mower does not have a blade brake clutch feature. The engine will stop whenever the bail is released. Yes, the big advantage of an all-wheel drive mower would be for mowing on hilly terrain.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Does it come with the rear bag grass catcher??
by Steve from Louisiana on April 12, 2013

A: Steve - yes, the rear grass bagger is included with the Husqvarna All-Wheel drive mower.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Interested in your Husqvarna HU800AWD. Is it true all wheel drive; power to all 4 wheels? I have a Craftsman rear wheel but if you lift it in gear, only one wheel has power. I need something with extra pull for hilly terrain.
by Doug from North Carolina on March 30, 2013

A: Doug - the Husqvarna HU800AWD delivers power to all 4 wheels. You may need to adjust the AWD drive cable a bit for your personal liking depending on how you like it to engage.

Husqvarna Doesn't Honor Warranties
Initially this lawn mower worked GREAT right out of the box. I was very happy with it. After about 4 weeks it started acting strange, with the engine randomly dying and then having trouble starting. I contacted Husqvarna and was told to take it to a repair center. Now is where I began my education on the world of lawn mower warranties.

The Husqvarna repair center determined that the problem was with the engine, and that they wouldn't touch it because Husqvarna won't warranty work done on the... more

If you mower is having issues with running and starting they would certainly be engine related and should be handled through Honda's warranty on the engine.

Good Mower With A Few Problems
Mower runs great. Nice clean and even cuts. AWD makes the mower feel solid. But as with all things there are a few problems. First is the cleanout connection. Don't waste your time hooking up your hose, just lift your mower by the side and use a spray nozzle to clean off the grass. Second, my mower made a grinding noise in one of the front wheels. The gear drive was not making a good connection, used a few small washers to shim the gear on the wheel and all is now well. Third (and this one kind... more

My Experience
I researched several mowers and after reading reviews on the HU800AWD, I decided to purchase one. It arrived, was easy to assemble, cranked right up. I mowed with it and was very impressed with the power. Each time I mowed, I had to adjust the drive belt until after the 3rd time I mowed, the drive belt had been adjusted all the way and the mower would not propel itself any longer. Since I live in a rural area, about 40 miles from the nearest service, I decided that I would remove the belt,... more
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast, Quiet, Durable
Cons: Expensive, Unreliable, Poor Drive System Design Hard To Access Drive Belt

Never Made It Off The Driveway
Purchased this mower late yesterday evening from my local Lowes store. Having had good experiences in the past with Husqvarna leaf blowers and trimmers, I had high expectations for this mower with the Honda engine, but quickly those expectations faded. After assembling the mower and filling with oil and gas I was able to easily start it on the 1st pull. I let the mower idle for a while to warm up and then pulled the handle to drive it towards my lawn. That's where things instantly went bad!... more

Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable

The Husqvarna HU800AWD is a huge disappointment to me. While the mower is acceptable, the mulching feature is below the line. It actually mulches horribly. On nearly every pass, it spits out a large "chunk" of grass and leaves my entire yard looking like it needs raked. I would not buy this mower again, nor would I recommend it to others.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast
Cons: Unreliable

Husky Husqvarna
We have a large, hilly yard that my wife cuts for exercise. We have had other brand name mowers, but none have performed as well as the AWD Husqvarna. The Honda engine is easy for her to start and she does not have to help it up the hills. As a matter of fact, this mower helps HER up the hills! It is a little hard to turn around, but the positives far outweigh that negative. We would buy another.
Pros: Features, Quiet, Fast, Exceeded Expectations
Cons: Difficult To Use

Poor Workmanship
I purchased a Husqvarna HU800AWD from Lowes in April 2013. Actually I bought two HU800AWD lawn mowers in April 2013. I researched the HU800AWD before I bought the lawn mower and thought I had bought a high quality product. I have since found out I was wrong. Both lawn mowers have given me nothing but problems. The first mower I bought would not start. The lawn mower would start if I took off the air filter cover but would quit immediately after placing the air filter cover back on the lawn... more

Handles The Thick Stuff
Bought this mower balanced on the price and reviews while comparing it to a more expensive Honda. I have had the full blown Honda before, and liked their motors, but was never fully satisfied with the evenness of the cut on a uneven lawn surface.

The Husqvarna AWD is a beast. It pulled through 10 day growth on a St. Augustine lawn, and never looked back.

Easy to assemble out of the box. Extend and secure the handle, add oil, gas, and one pull and gone. The Honda Engine is great, and... more

"I also think Mowers Direct is toptch notch. I couldn't get this model at my local dealer without waiting longer. I paid for the lift gate service from Yellow Freight. Upon having to pick the mower up since Yellow Freight had very limited delivery times, Mowers Direct REFUNDED me the lift gate fee!!! Save the tax, and have your mower shipped to you!"

Great Product, Great Price
This Mower Works So Much Better Than the Toro I Purchased From the Home Depot. But, the Day I Opened It From the Box, It Has Never Cut the Grass Really Well, It Leaves Some Tall Grass Behind. the Wheels Could Use More Traction On My Hillside, Because It Doesn'T Like Damp Grass Late in the Evening. Overall, It Is a Wonderful Mower. in Some Areas of My Property On a Hill, You Can Use One Hand to Guide the Mower, and It Does the Rest.
Pros: Easy To Use, Features
