Husqvarna XT722FE (22") 173cc Kohler Self-Propelled Key-Start Lawn Mower

Not real impressed with this one.....key start works great and I thought I had purchased the perfect gift for my wife. Bought it in April and by the end of June the front wheel quit working...seems the drive gear inside the wheel tore up the plastic gear hub.....put a new wheel on and almost made it through one cutting and the wheel came apart again. Been in the shop (2 weeks) waiting new parts, we've been told the linkage from the transmission is messed up. We will have to wait and see if this is a factory assembly issue or just bad engineering. We mulch an the results are not real good....went out and bought a genuine mulching blade and still have too many clumps. We are mowing twice a week at 3 inches with only moderate watering. First time Husqvarna hasn't preformed to expectations.

I purchased this lawn mower and thought the first year it was great. This year it didn't want to start. I wanted a lawn mower that would be easy for a single woman to use. My brother came down and looked at it...he said the choke was stuck and also there was no cover for where the pulley and belt are under the mower. I thought perhaps one just didn't come with mine and I was going to call where I bought it to order one...there isn't one to be ordered. I have grass stuck in the pulley belt area and from what I understood from another review it takes something special to get the top part off to get the rest of the grass out of there. I had a Craftsman for 10 years and it was a nightmare every year and now I have another one!

I, too have purchased this mower for the convenience of the electric start.

It starts OK when cold, but once warmed up it does not start well. There have been a few times the electric start would not start the mower at all.

When it does start I have noticed a slight amount of black smoke. No doubt the smart choke system is not very smart as it is choking the engine when it is warm.

There is not an adjustment on the choke system. This mower is going back to the dealer. So far I am not impressed with it.

MD RESPONDS: This unit has a 2 year Factory Warranty. You local Authorized Service location should be able to adjust the choke so it performs up to your expectations.

It starts OK when cold, but once warmed up it does not start well. There have been a few times the electric start would not start the mower at all.

I bought this mower at a local hardware store and have had it for 10 days. I have used it twice, it performs well as to cutting and bagging the debris.

However, the electric start function of the mower stopped working. I charged the unit as required when I first purchased the mower and it worked fine, however the mower required a new charge after only cutting my yard twice and since the recent charge the mower will not start by using the key.

I can pull start the mower with little effort but I bought this mower because it had a key start feature which would allow my wife to use the mower.

It very well may be a problem with the battery, but I do not feel that it should have failed so early and it will be inconvenient for me to return it to the store, leave it to have it checked out and if repairable to have to go and pick it up again.

I am still less than impressed that a new mower would have the problem so soon. I should state that I previously owned a Husqavarna mower for over 8 years and it performed flawlessly.
