Great mower, really happy with my new ride.
I have been push mowing my yard, much more than most would do, but I have been wanting a good mower for a couple of years, but needed something that had power due to the large amount of rain we have in the spring time where I live in North Carolina. I have a front yard that has some really thick grass, and it does not seem to dry out even after several days without raining.
My front yard has been really tough to keep mowed with a push mower, there is also a septic tank, and a tree which keeps the area shaded where the septic tank is, so this area doesn't dry out to well. My neighbor has a nice riding mower, it doesn't have the horsepower that this one does, and my front lawn would even bog his mower down really bad, almost to the point of stalling in some areas.
I am happy to say that after several days of rain, I got my mower it hadn't rained in a day and a half, and it pulled right through the front yard with ease, I am very happy with this mower, and definitely recommend it.

Outstanding experience with PED and Husqvarna!
With a purchase of this size I was skeptical of purchasing on line and so I decided to visit PED since I am in the Chicago land area several times per month. The staff was great and my visit gave me the comfort level I needed to pull the trigger on my order! I placed my order during the time of a promotion for a free dump trailer so my delay in ordering until I visited the brick and mortar site paid off!
My tractor showed up in two days! I paid extra for the lift gate service which is a must have unless you have a fork lift at your house! The delivery was perfect and I received two calls from R&L carriers, once for the delivery set up and another from the driver the morning of the delivery to confirm timing. The driver arrived on time, was great to work with, and there was no damage of any kind to the mower.
A word of warning when removing the mower from the shipping pallet make sure that you have moved the cardboard sides away from the area where you will be driving the mower off the pallet! I was not as careful as I should have been and ran one of the front tires over a staple and ended up with a slow leak! My fault! Some green slime and all is well!
Once off the pallet I added fuel, checked the oil, and the mower started right up! I adjusted the mower deck and it was ready to go! I originally was looking at the Husqvarna garden tractor with the 54” deck when I decided a reality check was in order! I have a one acre lot but only have about 1/3 acre of mowing area so I backed off to the YTH22V42 which still gave me the twin I wanted. Given the mowers performance and the area I have to mow I certainly made the right decision! I can mow my lawn in about 20 minutes and it has ample power.
The Ohio Steel trailer was a nice bonus even though it has a small capacity. It was easy to assemble but I would recommend using different nuts from those supplied with the trailer. During my first use of the trailer I noticed that the assembly that includes the axle was loose and the nuts were very loose and several were actually missing! When I assembled the trailer I did torque the nuts down as much as I felt comfortable not wanted to get to the point where the bolt yielded due to over torque! I went to Lowes and purchased new bolts and nuts with the nylon inserts to avoid having them back off again! I assume lock washers would serve the same purpose as well.
In conclusion I am very happy with my Husqvarna purchase and very happy with PED! I also ordered a Troy-Bilt weed trimmer with an edger attachment from PED and that has been great as well! I highly recommend PED for the customer service and pricing!

This is the first riding mower of any style that I have ever purchased and I had an excellent experience with Mowers Direct. I did a lot of research at local Discount Warehouses and big box stores, such as Sears. I also read many owner reviews about a number of riding mower make and sizes.
I had a couple of questions which Mowers Direct answered promptly and to my complete satisfaction. I finally ordered the mower with the lift gate service option and was pleasantly surprised when the driver actually assisted with getting the crated mower into the garage. This was very important to me as I was out of town when it was delivered and my son was the only one available to accept the delivery.
I carefully read the two manuals that came with the mower, then uncrated and rolled it off the pallet. I expected the engine to crank a few times starting up, but as soon as I turned the key to start, the engine started up immediately. I am still getting used to using the mower, but after only two mowings, I already feel comfortable operating the mower.
My experience with Mowers Direct has a big thumbs up for anyone looking to buy a major piece of yard equipment on-line.

This mower is great! It is very powerful and the v-twin engine is really smooth. I have ordered the bags for it. Wish I had ordered them when I ordered the mower! There is one negative I should mention. You should include dynamite when you ship this mower...I could have used it to get the mower out of the shipping crate!

A couple problems with mower & bagger
I like the mower & the bagger but I have been having problems with the mower scalping my lawn when I make a tight turn, even going slow. The rest of the time, it is cutting ok. The bagger is good but I am having a problem with the rubber tube sealer staying put. Each time I open the bagger to empty the bags, the rubber sealer comes loose and grass is blown all over me. I have followed the owners manual on both the mower & bagger but still have the problems. I am very picky about my lawn, I mow twice a week so it doesn't get too tall. I have a muscle disease and that is the reason I bought the mower. My legs do not have the strength any more to use my self propelled mower.

My experience doen't seem to line up with the others
The buying experience with PE Direct was great no issues what so ever. My confusion is with all the reviews that claim high quality cut and tearing thru high grass. I purchased the mulching kit and run at cut level 4 which I think is pretty normal. But we get clumps of grass on the lawn. And we are not going too fast. After reading all the reviews I feel like we must be doing something wrong but can't figure it out so I just wanted to report it in case others are seeing the same thing. This unit claims a hi tech cutting system so to me it is pretty major deal. Everything else about the unit is great. I can not recommend others buying it until this clumping thing when mulching is addressed.
MD RESPONDS: Excessive clumping usually means the grass is too long. Try mowing more often, or overlapping your mowing paths to decrease the amount of grass being cut. The grass may also be clumping because it is too wet, or the deck has grass building up inside it.

new experience
When my mower was delivered in this big crate I commenced to open it. Finally a neighbor saw me and assisted me with this chore. After we got it all unwrapped so to speak and out of its crate. We filled it with gas, checked the oil. Started looking at the machine and the owners manual. Got the mower started and it ran like a charm, however it would not go forward or backward. So I called and was given a repair number for a local person to come out and fix my new machine.
However my neighbor was speaking to another neighbor who just bought the same machine and he came down and showed me how to make it move!!! YEAH!!! No problems after that. No where in the instructions does it tell you about this little bar in the back that has to be pushed in for it to move. Love it !!! THANKS

My lawn tractor arrived in good condition and on time, but I was glad that I had ordered the lift gate shipping! I have about 3 hours on the machine at the moment and I have enjoyed it's maneuverability and it's power. One tire had a slow leak which was easily fixed by Slime tire sealant. I have a hilly yard and it does not even tax the motor. I have also found reasonably priced accessories at the local Home Depot.
The online purchase from Mowers Direct went very smoothly and by sending them a check for the purchase I was able to save $33 over the credit price. I would order again from this company.

Great Mower
I fell in love with it as soon as I sat in the seat. It runs quiet, mows better and faster than my 20 year old wheel horse. The hydrostatic drive works very well. So much easier to use than a manual trans. I haven't had a chance to use it much but...I give it five stars. The only negative I have is the free sun shade didn't fit my mower.

Just what I expected
As my age is creeping on I decided to replace my existing mower with a new one so I would at least get some use out of it before I am under the grass verse being on top of it. Lots of searching and looking and I chose this model because of price and dependability from other reviewers. Outstanding suction, pulls grass up and then cuts it clean. Don't see the front wheels after the mow only where the rear wheels had been.
I have lots of leaves this time of year and most of the time they are wet. But this unit picks them up and bags them just fine, of course the load is heavy because of all the wet leaves but I still can unload it just fine.
Good unit and quiet, the wife has to look outside to see what I am doing. The mower this replaced could be heard clear over to the neighbors place.

Pleased With The Purchase
Lawn Tractor and Bagger arrived in fine shape several days before I expected them. Removing the tractor from the skid was a bit challenging, but after a bit of 'this and that', I got it off. This is a heavy tractor so the lift gate service I purchased was a very good idea--absolutely essential. Once off the skid, start-up was a breeze. I spent some serious time with the Owner's Manual before venturing very far. While the engine is all muscle, it is quieter than I thought it would be. It mows well and quickly. It's going to be a good investment. The only thing I'm concerned about is service. The word on the street is 'if you didn't buy it from us, take it somewhere else.' Time will tell, I guess.
The double bagger was an easy installation even for this non-mechanical person. We own about 12 acre with several hardwoods. I wish the bagger were a 3-bagger, as it fills very quickly. Leaves and grass should be fairly dry, otherwise the bagger chute will clog. It is easy to unclog it. Just a bit of 'getting used to it' required.
Overall, so far we are very happy with the tractor bagger combo.
Lawn Tractor and Bagger arrived in fine shape several days before I expected them. Removing the tractor from the skid was a bit challenging, but after a bit of 'this and that', I got it off. This is a heavy tractor so the lift gate service I purchased was a very good idea--absolutely essential. Once off the skid, start-up was a breeze. This tractor is a dream
After several days of anticipation, I finally had the time to mount the grass bagger from my old tractor onto the new Husqvarna, and tried it out. I still need to purchase a new pickup tube from the deck to the bagger, since the profile of the old deck opening did not perfectly match the new one, and I had to jury rig a closure plate, still it worked beautifully.
The new tractor is a dream. Right out of the box the deck was level, and all I did was mount the bagger, check the oil, gas up and cut. The turning radius is much shorter than the old one which saved a bunch of time cutting around our trees.
All in all, I'm extremely pleased.
I would recommend Mowers Direct and Husqvarna to anyone.

Shipping Nightmare
The ordering process was easy and quick. The shipment arrived undamaged and in perfect condition. Removal from the shipping skid is not an easy process as the skid is setup to hold the front and rear tires in place. Set up was per the manual and required leveling of the mowing deck and fueling up.
Start-up was quick and the engine was much quieter that expected. The time to ultimately receive delivery was 9 days from pickup due to an incompetent shipping company that neither updated the tracking information at each destination or had a dispatcher that was smart enough to get the shipment on to a truck for delivery. The shipment was within 50 miles of me for 5 days. Mowers direct Good Job! R&L Carriers needs much improvement as a freight company making home deliveries.

Great Ride
Spent a couple months researching, driving my better half crazy. Finally pulled the trigger and purchased from MowersDirect.com. Lowest price and no sales tax. Saved about $250.00. Mower came when I requested it to arrive. Checked oil and it was full. Looked it over added gas. Purged transmission per instructions and I was off and mowing in short order. Powerful riding mower. Love the air induction that lifts the grass. Very nice cut. Very happy with the buying process, delivery and mower at this time.

Great Experience
After researching many mowers, I decided on this 42" 22 hp model. Aside from the 4 week wait (backorder) the freight company called and the mower arrived on time. After a couple of days, the right tire was flat and upon inspecting it there was a 4" slit where the tire lay in the slat of the pallet. I took pictures of it and called mowers direct and within a couple of days, I had my replacement tire.
I completed the pre-work (oil check, setting the guide wheels...etc) added gas and she started right up. Not only is the mower an attractive ride it's also very powerful. I mow about an acre and completed the job 40 minutes. The mower does cut in reverse. It powered down the tall wet grass with ease.
Hopefully this mower lasts a long time.

Purchased mower and used it twice thus far. However before finishing the second cut the front right tire had lost all air. On trouble shooting found a slow leak in the side wall, not due to any thing done while using it, like scraping it against something or some such. Seems to be a manufacturing defect. However when I called Husqvarna they are asking me to take it to a Service Center to be looked at. It has not even been 2 weeks since I bought the mower. The cost of getting it to a service center is a cost I need to bear according to customer support in addition the the $1600 I just paid. Thought I was upgrading to a quality product from my Home-Depot Murray 22 HP 42 inch cut that served me for 15 years. Oh well so much for Husqvarna quality and customer support service. Aside from that it has worked great the 2 times it has been used to mow my .45 acres hilly, flat terrain with a nice even cut.

My New Mower
After mowing for years with my old green lawn tractor, it was time to upgrade. I did a lot of research, and luckily came across Mowersdirect.com. With no tax and free shipping, their prices were great and I decided to buy from them.
They were very professional to deal with. They called to confirm my shipping address, and when I called back, a real person answered the phone promptly and was very professional. The freight company they used was also very professional, easy to get a hold of and prompt. Everything transacted just like they said it would.
My mower arrived and I had to cut apart the crate it came in to get if off the pallet. There was no "rolling it off" as the manual suggested--the wheels were too far into the slats for that.
However it started right up and cuts, runs, handles wonderfully! I have no complaints about the mower, it seems to be a great machine, powerful and it turns well. I mow about an acre of uneven ground. My only concern at this point is my hands and arms were really tingling after an hour of mowing--I'm not sure why as it seems like a smooth ride, but there must be some vibration in there somewhere, and that is not good. I need to mow again and see if the same thing happens. If it occurs again, I will be contacting either mowersdirect.com or Husqvarna to see about how to fix that as it never happened on my old trusty mower, and like I said, not at all sure why its happening with the brand new one.
Otherwise, very happy with the experience and the mower!

This is a great mower - check the air pressure in the tires, check oil, add gas and start mowing. I like the fact that the tractor feels a bit larger than it really is ( it doesn't feel like you're riding a toy), but turns and fits everywhere I need it to go. Very comfortable and easy to operate. The V-Twin engine is quiet, much quieter than the Craftsman I just retired and has loads of power. How can you go wrong with an adjustable seat and cruise control... I purchased the double bagger and the front bumper too. All do their intended job very well. Quiet, powerful and comfortable.

Great Mower
Bought this mower to tackle a large amount of grass. Didn't expect it to handle this job so easily. Love the v-twin engine which can go right through 8-10 inch tall grass. Transmission is smooth and turns very short. Great mower for a great price. Thanks Mowers Direct.

Good buy and a good mower
The mower is great! Good buying experience and quick service, except for the truck line used. I paid for tailgate delivery, but the truck line failed to tell the driver. Not all bad, the driver helped push the freight up a slight incline.
I would buy this mower from this dealer again!

Good Mower, Problems with Shipping
First mower came with the front end crushed and broken, I did not accept delivery and Mowers Direct sent me another one within a week. The next one looked good, but the steering wheel is not centered properly and MD has not responded to me regarding a fix. It looks like the wheels track straight which is the main thing but the steering wheel of a new mower should not be off square - it's a good 25 to 30 degrees off center.
That said, the mower mows clean and even, and the bagger is great for collecting leaves. My main need is to collect the tons of live oak leaves that fall every spring, and this setup saved me not just hours but days of work. If this mower lasts a reasonable amount of time, it's money well spent.
