Q: Will this item (Husqvarna Arm Rest Kit For RZ Series Zero Turn Mowers) fit my YTH21K46? Or is the armrest even an option for my particular model? by Henry Wong from Connecticut on April 19, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. This arm rest kit is only meant to fit zero turn mowers. The kit will not fit a lawn tractor. by Todd, Product Expert

More damage done than what the part was worth
This product cause more damage than what it is worth. This product seems to be very supportive arm wise. But I'm wondering if anyone else have looked closely on the side of their seat cushion to notice how the speed nut recess cuts deep down into the side of the seat cushion. Even with me installing it with extra help by making sure the seat cushion was pushed back enough. I think the speed nut recess should have been rubber coated all over or hard plastic.

Husqvarna arm rest kit
I recommend this arm rest kit for anyone that needs a little extra support while mowing, it's nice to rest your arms while holding the controls and helps to position yourself in the seat while moving.

Installation directions lacking
I bought a Husqvarna RZ5426 and purchased the aftermarket armrests from Mower Direct. Ordering, post-order communication and delivery were excellent.
I don’t mean to whine, but the instructions were poorly written and the illustrations referenced in the installation procedure were as if they had nothing to do with the first step. All they did was confuse a straight forward 5 minute installation.
The arm rest uses three (per side) ¼ x 14 x 1” self-tapping screws and a corresponding “speed nut.” The speed nuts slip over the edge of the plastic shell of the seat, between the cushion and the plastic shell. The speed nut provides the anchor point for the self-tapping screw. The instructions reference speed nut recesses, but both sides of the plastic shell seem to be flat. If there are recesses there, they are in the mind of the technical writer or engineer, but not in the molded plastic. Anyway, once you get the speed nut started over the edge of the shell, a mallet and a wooden block work fine to drive them home. I’d suggest a bit of re-engineering and would spread the speed nut apart a bit before sliding them over the shell. Once lined up with the pre-drilled hole, the self-tapping bolts can be driven in the pilot hole into the speed nut, and then evenly tightened. Be careful that you push the cushion as far back as you can while slipping the speed nut on because the speed nut can tear the cushion cover.
Overall, the arm rests work as advertised. While it was obvious what had to take place to install the arm rest, all the instructions did was confuse a relatively straight forward installation. I’d suggest a detail drawing of how to push the cushion back and slip the speed nut over the edge of the shell, and a clarification of what a speed nut recess is and where it can be found.
The installation directions are a Husqvarna problem, not a Mowers Direct problem.

Doesn't Fit RZ3016 Properly...
I bought this accessory for my RZ3016, which I love. Unfortunately, the design of the right arm rest (above the parking brake) is flawed. It interferes with the operation of the parking brake lever and, in order to engage or disengage the parking brake you literally have to bend the brake lever around the arm rest, which sticks out at least half an inch too far. I've read at least 2 other reviewers on this site with the exact same complaint and have found another dozen across the Internet in a quick search. So, I wonder if Husqvarna will offer owners of this accessory a replacement arm rest that is designed properly for the RZ3016 parking brake (right) side? Actually, I doubt it seriously. They were clearly looking for a "one size fits all" accessory and clearly did not (on the design and engineering side) actually test the accessory on the 2011 model of the RZ3016 - if they did, they would have quickly discovered their error.
My two cents worth.

one complaint
I love the mower--works great. The problem I have is that when I added the arm rests, I can't raise the brake arm all the way up therefore the mower won't start--so I had to take off the right arm rest before I could start the mower. Am I missing something? Seems silly to only be able to use 1 arm rest.
