Q: Can the Greenworks 20V lithium-ion string trimmer use either the 2.6 Ah 20 V Greenworks lithium-ion battery or the 6.0 Ah Greenworks lithium-ion battery?
If so, what is the approximate run time with the 6.0 Ah battery?
Also, can I purchase from you the string trimmer alone (i.e., without battery or battery charger), and if so, what is your catalog number for that, and what is your price on it?
(I recently purchased from you a Greenworks 20V lithium-ion hedge trimmer with 2 ea 6.0 Ah batteries and 1 ea battery charger, so I don't necessarily need to buy more than the string trimmer itself.)

A: Bob - the Greenworks 21072 comes with a 2.6 Ah 20-volt lithium ion battery and charger. And yes, you can upgrade the battery on this string trimmer to the 6.0 Ah lithium ion battery if you want to.
The 2.6ah battery runs about 35-45 minutes depending on conditions it is used under. The 6.0ah battery will run 55-65 minutes depending on conditions. So while there is a difference in run time, it is not that significant.
Greenworks does not offer a 20-volt lithium ion string trimmer without the battery and charger as an option. They do have a blower and a hedge trimmer that can be purchased without the battery and charger, but not a string trimmer.

A: Bryan - you would need to order a new charger separately. The charger is not included when you order a new battery.

Q: Does the charger stop charging on its own or does the battery have to be removed as soon as charged?

A: Patricia - the battery charger will stop charging the battery on it's own once the battery is fully charged. The battery may be stored in the charger or removed once it is fully charged. It is recommended that you unplug the charger from the electrical outlet once the battery is fully charged if you store the battery in the charger.

A: Rebecca - this trimmer uses standard .065 diameter replacement line. You do not need Greenworks brand replacement line. This should be available at any hardware store. We also carry this replacement line, so you can order from us if you wish to do so. Trimmer Line

A: No, you cannot interchange different voltage batteries on any of the cordless hand held lawn tools. You also can't interchange lithium ion and Ni-Cad batteries. This 20-volt model will only operate off of a 20-volt lithium ion battery platform.

A: Heidi - actually, the Greenworks 21072 does come with a battery charger, which can be wall mounted if you want. All of the lithium ion cordless string trimmers that we carry on our web store include the battery charger.

The Greenworks 21072 is powered by a 20-volt lithium ion battery. If you’re not familiar with lithium ion power, it has two HUGE advantages. First off, a lithium ion battery is considerably lighter in weight than either lead acid or Ni-cad batteries. So your string trimmer weighs a lot less and it’s easier to handle. Works Great
I used my new Greenworks 20-volt string trimmer yesterday for the first time, and it works exactly as advertised. Very easy to assemble - less than five minutes and all I needed was a phillips screwdriver. String trimmer created a surprising amount of power. I used it for about 20 minutes to trim my entire yard, and the lithium ion battery did just what it was supposed to. The power on the unit never diminished the entire time I used it. Ran just as fast after 20 minutes as it did when I started trimming. I'm very happy with my new trimmer.

I enjoy using the Greenworks trimmer. It's everything that it was claimed to be by others who rated it. I've used B & D trimmers for years the and the battery lasts much longer in the Greenworks than the B & D battery. I would definitely recommend the Greenworks as a superior trimmer. It certainly meets my needs ( an eighty year old man) for a lightweight trimmer, that I use to trim a three acre well landscaped lot.

Very nice
Got this to replace a cordless Sears trimmer. The Sears trimmer needed replacement lead acid batteries every 2 to 3 years at about $60. So time to try a different brand and newer technology. We will see how the battery holds up over the years.

The 21072 is FANTASTIC
After researching and going store to store to compare the competition for a good cordless weedeater, I was very disappointed with what was available. I checked the web and found Greenworks and took a chance.
WOW was I surprised the minute I opened the box, quality all the way. It wasn't until I used it that I was convinced that I'd found the best product possible.
