Q: Todd, i have a bermuda lawn and currently have a scotts reel mower. It only cuts about 3". not short enough to create a turf. any reel mower solutions that will create a 1-2" turf?
Can i adjust this one beyond factory settings to cut closer to the ground? by Burton from South Carolina on September 30, 2011
A: Burton
If you are looking for a 1-2" height this mower is the best option we have. It has the ability to adjust between 1-4". THis mower will give you the type of cut you are looking for. This mower will not adjust beyond the 1-4" setting. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Hi Todd i have a few small hills in my yard is it really that hard to push this mower up a hill. by Nicholas Wiedenfeld from Wisconsin on June 20, 2011
A: Nicholas - no, it is not difficult to push the Fiskars reel mower up a small hill. While this reel mower is a little heavier than most reel mowers, it is surprisingly easy to push and maneuver. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Are there any reel mowers that are good for uneven terrain and lots of garden beds to work around? The Fiskars sounds very heavy and I am know my wife will not be able to maneuver a 50 pound mower. by Rick Gausling from Ohio on May 26, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. If you are looking for a reel mower that is lighter weight and good on uneven terrain you should try the Husqvarna brand. That would be a better option for your application. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Hey Todd, I've just built a 3 hole golf course on 1 acre around my house. I need a reel mower with at least a minimum height of 1/2". Please help. I have been looking at a McClane Manual, but if I can find a little bit cheaper one I will go with it. by Paul Dixon from Alabama on May 10, 2011
A: You could do the Husqvarna Novocut unit. This mowers goes as low as 1/2". This would be a good low cost option. Great States also has a 16" one as well.
Thanks,

Q: How do you sharpen the reel on this mower? I'm concerned about it getting dull overtime and want to be able to sharpen it myself without having to buy a new reel by Dave from Iowa on May 09, 2011
A: We have a couple different sharpening kits for reel mowers. The best and easiest ways is to use a compound you would apply to the blades and then just spin the reel by using a crank and this would sharpen the blades.
Thanks,

Q: Hi I am thinking about buying a reel mower soon. Would you recommend this one? or will the 18 in Husqvarna work fine? I see this one cuts 3 times better then most out there. With so many to choose from I am not sure which one to buy. I'm looking for one that can do well in tall grass and also one that is quiet enough that I can cut the grass early so I won't disturb my neighbors. Thanks. by Eric from Michigan on May 01, 2011
A: Eric - The Fiskars 18" reel mower is a model I fully recommend. It has an innovative design that makes this the easiest to use and best cutting reel mowers we sell. Plus, this mower is the only we sell that offers you height of cut adjustment up to 4 inches high, so you'll be able to handle taller grass with less effort. No other reel mower we sell offers this. The gears and wheels on this model are very quiet. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Todd, what grass catcher will connect properly to the FISKARS push reel 18" momentum by Gerard from Florida on April 29, 2011
A: Hi Gerard - Fiskars does not have a grass catcher for their 18" reel mower at the present time, but they are coming out with one that should be available around June 1st (don't hold me to that date). The item number on the grass catcher will be 62106935 and the MSRP is $49.99. We will offer this grass catcher on our web site as soon as they are available from Fiskars by Todd, Product Expert

Todd's Recommendation
The Fiskars 6201 Momentum reel mower is a high end reel mower, but what you’re paying for is much better performance and advanced technology.
The Fiskars 6201 reel mower uses a patented InertiaDrive technology. InertiaDrive provides as much as twice the cutting power of the typical reel mower. InertiaDrive will also let this reel mower handle things that bog down or stop most other reel mowers in their tracks, such as sticks, tall thick grass and weeds.
The Fiskars 6201 is beefy, weighing in at just over 50 lbs, so you’ll need to put some muscle behind it when you mow, but just look at that as a summer day workout instead of heading to the gym.
The Fiskars 6201 Momentum reel mower is designed so the cutting blades are positioned in front of the wheels and extend the full width of the mower, so there’s no uncut strips that normally occur beneath the wheels of other reel mowers.
The Fiskars 6201 Momentum reel mower will require some energy to operate, so if you're looking for a reel mower that you can move along at a leisurely pace, this probably isn’t the best choice for you. But if you want a workhorse that can do the job properly with one pass and not be bothered by thick grass, weeds and twigs, this is the perfect reel mower for you.

My First Fiskars
I wanted a mower to cut 4 inches. Reel mowers are interesting now that somebody knows how to build them - Great job Fiskars. I mowed the front and back in the same time it takes to cut with a Honda and it was easy to put together. Hardest part was getting out of box. Better cut, less noise, less smoke, easy to use and much less expensive both short term and long term. Very high end precision mower. I would think if you mow your grass with a 21 then using this would be great up to about 5K over that you probably need more help but if you want the work out it could keep up with my Honda.
I will leave you with one last tidbit - guess what I was able to do while on mowing the grass with my Fiskars? Talk on the phone - how cool is that! It was like I was cutting with scissors. Nice and quite. Very smooth - I love my Fiskars - I even like saying Fiskars. I think all my neighbors will want one - this ain't your daddy's REEL mower.

WOW! Outstanding.
I just finished mowing my 1,200 sq. ft lawn and all I can say is wow! I have used several reel mowers over the last eight years (Sunlawn, Brill and Easun classic) and this Fiskars is outstanding. I really feel I know reel mowers and all the the benefits of each model. I am 67 years old and this mower is so easy to use that I am not even a bit tired. All my other reel mowers I had to cut twice. Not this baby. One pass and it is golf course perfect. They must have perfect lawns in Finland, if this is what they use. I can not wait to go do the lawn again. I may even ask to do my neighbors.

Highly recommend.
I have not tried any other reel mowers, but I can say that this one works great. I have used it twice now, two weeks in a row. It's too soon to say if it is actually improving my lawn. I think it might look greener, but I can't say for sure. It definately cuts just as evenly as any power mower. And IT'S quiet! It is heavier than other models, but you get to have the blade out front to mow closer to edges, walls, etc. It's still lighter than a power mower. I have a fairly irregular shaped yard and I'm able to manuever it around good enough. The height adjustment is smooth and easy. I ordered the bag with mine, which also functions well. Having this mower makes you realize just how much overkill it is using a motor-powered mower to cut grass.

My story
Following the review in the Detroit Free Press about this lawnmower, I bought one. I have a very small yard that has flower beds with round edges, the lawn is not square. The Fiskars is very heavy, does not turn around in a small space at all and I have to lift it to get it to turn on the spot. I other words, it is unwielding. I struggled with it enough. I cannot recommend it for small places.
It may work well on a square lawn and large yard. I am now going back to the lawnmower I had before, small, easy to turn, narrow radius.

Love that Mower!
My husband is tired of taking a power mower in to get it checked over and readied for the season for $100 or more! So, he wanted a VERY GOOD push mower for our 3/4 of an acre yard in Grand Junction, Colorado on a golf course. I found your website and was thrilled I wouldn't even have to drive around and find a mower in a store.
He's had his mower for about 3 weeks now and we're BOTH thrilled...he...for it's performance...and me for the price and delivery to the front door...What a way to shop and get something of such high quality...Thank You
