Q: Does this trimmer have an automatic string (line) feed or is it small little hunks of line that you need to replace manually if it breaks off? We have a piece of property (not big) that is a mixture of weeds, volunteer trees (buckthorne) and small top tree roots, would this be a good trimmer to use; as I don't want to mow it with the blade mower. Thanks for the help.
by Beth Kryzak from Illinois on July 21, 2011
A: Beth - all of the gas walk-behind string trimmers that we carry (including the Husqvarna HUS625HWT) would use multiple strands of pre-cut trimmer line. These strands do need to be replaced by hand when they fray or break off altogether. However, the pre-cut strands of trimmer line used in this type of trimmer are much thicker and more durable than the typical trimmer line found on hand held string trimmers. As for the property you have described, I don't think any of the gas, walk behind string trimmers are going to "tame" your vegetation. I don't think you will be able to trim back or cut down any of the volunteer tree's or buckthorne - I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure these are going to be too tall and too thick around for this type of trimmer to handle effectively. by Todd, Product Expert

Q: How do I purchase replacement blades for the HUS625HWT walk behind string trimmer?
by Patty from Washington on June 26, 2011
A: Patty - this product does not use "blades". It uses a heavy gauge vinyl trimmer line. Here is what you need: high wheel trimmer line by Todd, Product Expert

Q: Todd, I'm about ready to order the HUS625HWT, walk behind string trimmer. Man I know this is gonna help keep my acre of weeds under control. Question: I would like to purchase extra line. Do you stock any, and what size is it? Thanks man! Bruce
by Bruce from California on June 19, 2011
A: Bruce - we do carry replacement line for our walk behind gas string trimmers. It is a .155 diameter line, and it comes in a package of pre-cut lengths that will fit most walk behind gas string trimmers Trimmer line by Todd, Product Expert

Q: I am considering buying this as a replacement to a push mower that just died. I have a rider for most of the mowing and I need this for our vacant property for the tall stuff. Do you think that this would be okay for light mowing on a small yard? I don't see the sense in buying another push mower if I have this. Does it give a fairly smooth cut on regular yard grass?
by Vince from Michigan on June 14, 2011
A: Vince - a walk behind string trimmer really isn't designed for standard grass mowing. It will definitely work for this purpose, but because you are doing the cutting with a series of thin, flexible trimmer lines instead of a rigid steel blade, you may find it difficult to cut your grass in an even, smooth manner. The cuts to your grass may be somewhat uneven. If you are looking for a smooth, even cut for your yard grass, you probably won't be happy with the results from a walk behind string trimmer. by Todd, Product Expert

Q: Can this string trimmer be used on an unlevel surface, such as a hillside? I am looking for something mainly for that purpose but also to do trimming between hedges.
by Kerry from Illinois on June 13, 2011
A: Kerry - yes, these walk behind string trimmer can be used on uneven surfaces and hillsides, as long as the slope is not greater than about 20 or 22 degrees. You will also be providing the "horsepower" to push one of these up and down the slopes, as none of these units have a drive system. by Todd, Product Expert

Q: im looking for a walk-behind trimmer i got one now its great i would like one that starts with a key other the dr i dont see any other is this true
by Lois A Brown from Missouri on June 12, 2011
A: Lois - none of the walk behind string trimmers that we carry have an electric start feature. This is not a common feature on a walk behind string trimmer. by Todd, Product Expert

Q: I would like to know why the Earthquake 190CC string mower is not available in California, thanks Wade.
Is it because of the clutch feature that stops the string head but allows the engine to continue running when you walk away to pick up debris in the mowing path....a feature I can not live without which seems to no longer be available on any of these I see in the stores here?
This model [Earthquake 190cc] looks exactly the same as my trusty old Craftsmen that finally locked up after 14 years of service on 2, 10 acre parcels. I can not do without one...what a back saver!
by Wade from California on May 15, 2011
A: Wade - the reason this product cannot be sold in the state of CA is because the 4-cycle engine is not CA-carb compliant. The emission levels on this engine when it is running do not meet the CA emission standards. We currently offer 5 models of these walk behind string trimmers, and none of them is CA-Carb compliant. by Todd, Product Expert
