Q: Is the Cub Cadet CC760ES ready to use when delivered ? Blade sharpening not necessary, just add gas and go?
by Joe M. from North Carolina on July 04, 2016

A: Joe,

When this unit is delivered there will be minor set up that will need to be done. You will need to remove the shipping brace, unfold the handle, attach the shift lever, attach the negative battery cable, and then add the gas and oil to proper levels. You will not need to sharpen the blade upon delivery as this will have already been done.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Can the forward speed be changed without stopping, i.e. is it like a snow blower transmission where you select the speed and stop to change speed?
by John P from Minnesota on May 10, 2016

A: John - no, you cannot change speeds "on the fly". You must release the drive control lever (mounted on the left handle) before you change the speed of the mower up or down. Failing to do this could cause damage to the transmission of the mower.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: What is the maximum forward speed?
by Mike G from Michigan on April 17, 2016

A: Mike - the max forward speed of the Cub Cadet CC760ES mower is approximately 4 mph.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Can you use attachments that allow you to stand on it i think it called a sculy
by Kenneth from Virginia on April 01, 2016

A: Kenneth - the Cub Cadet CC760ES is not compatible for use with a sulkie.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Jose,
How do you adjust the height of the blades? And it does have two blades, right? One lever or multiple levers?
thanks
Carmen

by Carmen Cicalese from New Jersey on May 10, 2015

A: Carmen - there is a lever on the left side of the mower just in front of the left rear tire that you slide forward and back to adjust the cutting height of the mower deck. If you look closely at the image of this mower, you can see this lever just to the left side of the engine. And yes, this model has a twin blade mower deck.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: What's the minimum width my fence gate can be to fit the mower through?
by Michael from New Jersey on April 09, 2015

A: Michael - the Cub Cadet CC760ES mower measures 36" wide with the side discharge chute cover in the "up" position, and 48" wide with the side discharge cover in the "down" position.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Is the handle on this unit adjustable at all for varying heights of an operator?
by Dave S. from Illinois on July 15, 2014

A: Dave - the handle height on the Cub Cadet CC760ES mower is adjustable. The upper handle is secured to two support bars that can be adjusted to raise or lower the handle height. Full instructions on how to adjust the handle height can be found on page 21 of the owners manual (which you can view in the "specs" tab on our web page).
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: How does it turn. physically or with motor
by Roger from Georgia on April 25, 2014

A: Roger - the Cub Cadet CC760ES mower does not have any type of steering assist system. The front swivel wheels will help turn and maneuver this mower more easily, but it will still be the operator who is supplying the movement to turn the mower.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: What company makes the engine on this mower? You give the cc's what is the horse power rating on this engine?
by George Sluder from North Carolina on July 05, 2013

A: George - Cub Cadet still builds their own engines in their own factory. It's a Cub Cadet brand engine. There is no true conversion from cc's to HP, but a 420cc engine would be roughly equal to 12.5 HP.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Does this mower have mulching capability?
by Larry Riens from Nebraska on May 23, 2013

A: This mower does come with the ability to mulch and side discharge out of the box. There will be a baffle which comes with the mower. The bagger would be additional for this mower.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Jose,

Looking at the Cub Cadet electric start walk behind model CC 760 ES.

DOES THIS HAVE BOTH ELECTRIC AND MANUAL START CAPABILITY?

by Neil Hibler from Massachusetts on May 19, 2013

A: Neil - the Cub Cadet CC760ES does NOT have a recoil starter on the engine. This mower only has an electric start option.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Can I connect a sulky to this mower??
by Kareem from New Jersey on May 09, 2013

A: Kareem - sorry, but this mower cannot be used with a sulky attachment.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Can a sulky/velke be used with this mower...adequately. I weigh about 250lbs. Personal lawn use only.
by Dean from Kentucky on April 21, 2013

A: Dean - the Cub Cadet wide area walk mowers are NOT set-up to be used with a sulky.

The Cub Cadet CC 760 ES wide area mower is one of the most popular models that Cub Cadet produces, and it's easy to see why once you use one. This mower combines lots of power and top-end performance.

You may notice I have listed this unit ahead of the Ariens WAW34 but the Cub Cadet is actually a lower price. This is actually another aspect I considered when putting the particular item ahead of the Ariens. When you look at the cost of this unit and the overall quality and put the two... more

My Cub Cadet Wide Area Mower
I purchased this mower to start a small lawn care company. I couldn't be happier with the power and cut of this machine. I read a lot of reviews about how bad the OEM blades were but mine seem to do just fine. Cant wait until things really get going to see how it holds up.

"I originally purchased this my cub cadet mower from the home depot. However their supplier double booked the BOL and it was never shipped. They refused to send me the mower until I purchased another no way was that going to happen. "Fool me once". Needless to say Mowers Direct got it right the first time, no hassle and fast shipping. I will keep Mowers Direct in mind for any future lawn equipment needs."

Awful...that's All
The review are correct regarding the belts coming off. If you keep it tweaked you can control that a little better. I've owned mine for 1 year and it has 133 hours on it. In that time, it's been in the shop 6 times. The motor is good and dependable with plenty of power, however, the good stops there.

The belt, drive, blade assembly is inferior and takes a lot of maintenance. I'm on my 3rd set of belts in 1 year. In the last 2 months since my warranty ran out, I've spent $246 on... more

Great In All Aspects But One!
This is a very powerful mower. It has no problem cutting thru deep grass and weeds. The electric start is very nice, not an option I thought I would care about on a walk behind mower, but now I am spoiled. Going up hills is a breeze. My issue with this mower is the self-propelled speed control. It is very inconvenient to be always taking your hand off the drive control to change the speed/gear.

If you are in 3rd or 4th speed this mower is very difficult to turn, if fact almost impossible if... more

Drive Belt Chronically Slips Off Pulley
Owned mower for 6 or 7 years. When new, either drive belt or blade drive belt would come off pulley. A design flaw. A service directive fix was added to maintenance service. The fix was adding a deck bolt that kept the belt from slipping off the pulley. The last 2 yrs I have had the mower picked up and serviced for the drive belt slipping off the pulley (twice last yr and twice so far this year). I can't find any instructions or video on how to replace belts for this mower. Would be great to... more

Great Mower, Bad Blades
Bought mower used with very few hours on it to use to get into customers fenced-in back yards. Used on my back yard and grass was being ripped. Ordered Oregon G3 Mulching blades and now it cuts way better. It also has plenty of power and is heavy, but overall it is a great mower.
Pros: Exceeded Expectations, Easy To Use, I'd Buy It Again, Fast
Cons: Heavy

Mostly Satisfied
The only plroblem I've experienced is a tiny piece of wood got stuck behind the drive belt, and the drive stopped working. We removed the piece, and it works fine again.

Drive/blade Belts Come Off All The Tme
There is definitely a design flaw with this mower. I have had this in for repair 3. Times in the last 3 mos. for the same reason...EITHER THE DRIVE BELT OR BLADE BELT has come off. The drive BELT has just come off again(4th time now). In 3 mos. unfortunately I do not have a means to deliver it to the dealer.

So I pay pickup and delivery charges plus cost to repair and am without a mower for 2-3 weeks. Mower is too difficult for me to tackle trying to repair myself and Cub Cadet has no... more

Broken Again
Purchased this mower Jun 11 2015. I had the mower 2 weeks and after my second cut noticed fluid all over the floor of my garage. Transmission leaked out everywhere. I purchased the Power Plus warranty but I did not want to deal with that it had not even been thirty days. After many discussions with the Dealer they finally swapped the unit out with another they had that had also been repaired. Not longer after getting this one to the house, I yep, me hit something and tweaked a bushing out of... more

Alternative Purchase Option
As others did, I researched for hours and decided the Cub Cadet 760 ES was the right mower for me. I live in NH and there are still local hardware stores and small engine retail shops. I purchased this mower model at a local retailer. Price was $1300 and there was no delivery fee.

The mower came fully assembled and was delivered to my front door. No trucking/delivery costs, no unloading from the delivery truck, no uncrating, no pallet and packing material left over, no assembly.

Problems From The Start
The battery is always dead only have 12 hours on it and now it won't start. I believe the transmission will not go into neutral. 1200.00 down the drain.

Don't know what to do to fix the problem but don't have money to take it to the shop so I am using my old john deer push mower that starts right up after 8 years. Anyone with any info on how to fix the neutral problem would be great.

Halved My Mowing Time
First, this mower is not for everyone. Until you get accustomed to it, it'll beat you up. It's heavy and you have to get used to the blade and drive handles. But once you get through that, you'll enjoy the mower.

I've had this mower for 3 years now. I have the non-electric start version. I've only changed the oil once and it came out clean. Never lost oil during the previous two years. Easy maintenance? Check.

This mower is 50% wider than the average push mower. Also, being... more
