Q: I have one small part of my 3/4 acre yard that has a significant incline. How much incline can this mower handle? Is there any riding lawn mower that can be used for this, or am I better off having something else to handle this? by Benjamin Johnson from North Carolina on August 17, 2011
A: Benjamin - most residential riding mowers, including this Allis Chalmers tractor, will handle an incline of 18 to 20 degree's of slope. The manufacturer specifies no more than 15 degree's in the owners manual, but in reality, a little bit more than that is possible. You will probably need a walk behind mower to maintain that area of your property with the steep incline. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Does the AC130 allow mowing in reverse by key selection or do you have to press a button or operate some other control to get it to mow in reverse? by Donald K. Hall, Sr. from Connecticut on July 25, 2011
A: Donald - The Allis Chamlers will mow in reverse using a key selection feature, but it's not recommended. Here is the info directly out of the owner's manual for this model:
Reverse Mowing Operation (RMO) WARNING: Mowing in reverse can be hazardous to bystanders. Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Never activate RMO if children are present. Children are often attracted to the unit and the mowing activity. 1. Engage the blades. 2. Insert the supplied key into the RMO switch, located to the right of the steering wheel bellows. 3. Turn the key. The L.E.D. light will illuminate, indicating that the RMO feature has been activated. The mower deck can now be operated while the unit is traveling in reverse. 4. The reverse mowing option is deactivated when the blades are disengaged, and must be reactivated each time the blades are engaged, if desired. 5. Remove the key to restrict access to the RMO feature. WARNING: The engine will shut off if the speed control pedal is moved into reverse while the blades are engaged and the RMO is not activated.

Q: Just ordered the Allis Chalmers 46" tractor. Does it have headlights? by Jeffro from Ohio on July 17, 2011
A: Jeffro - yes, the Allis Chalmers tractor does come with head lights. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: I've read that the all wheel steer is nice but takes some muscle. My wife enjoys mowing sometimes. Have you received much feedback from female users and what do they have to say? Also, does this model have a cup holder? by Tim from Pennsylvania on July 06, 2011
A: Tim - you are correct. Turning an all-wheel steer tractor does take a bit more muscle than turning a regular tractor. Other than the reviews that are posted on line for this product, we haven't received any feedback one way or the other specifically from female customers concerning the steering of this tractor. And yes, it does have a cup holder. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Todd:I'm from the North West ,Who does the service on these machines? They are not very common in this area. thank you;Norm from the Pacific NorthWest by Norman Berg from Washington on June 30, 2011
A: Norman - service on the Allis-Chalmers tractors is performed at your nearest Simplicity service center. Here is the link you can use to find the dealer closest to your home: Simplicity dealer locator by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Todd, can you tow a cart behind the Allis-Chalmers 7800511 with no problems especially with the hydrostatic trans and 4 wheel steering, thanks ? by Kenneth from Texas on June 06, 2011
A: Kenneth - the Allis Chalmers AC130 all-wheel steer tractor will tow a 10 cubic foot yard cart with no problem. Larger carts may or may not be easily towed depending on what you intend to load in them. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: What is the actual overall width of the mower? I have a gate that I would need to fit it through that is 48" wide-would this fit through it or will I have to go with a 42" model? by Anonymous on May 28, 2011
A: With the discharge chute on the mower deck in the DOWN position, this mower has an overall width of approx 55 inches, so it would not fit through your gate. With the discharge chute in the UP position, the overall width is approx. 47.5", so it would be really tight as far as getting through a 48" wide gate. I would have to recommend going with a 42" mower deck model. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Please compare the Allis Chalmers AC130, 23 hp lawn tractor to the Simplicity Broadmoor 22 hp lawn tractor - which do you recommend and why? Also, headlights are important to me - do these come w/lights? Please compare your choice between these two with the Kubota GR2020 or T2080. Thank you. by David Paciencia from New York on May 24, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. The Simplicity is the best lawn tractor on our site. The AC and the Simplicity are both manufactured by Briggs & Stratton, but the Simplicity is the higher end. They both have lights. I have no comparison with the Kubota because we do not offer that brand. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: I have never heard of Allis Chalmers before finding this website. I have seen a few "mom and pop" Ariens stores, John Deere Stores, and Cub Cadet stores. Home Depot and Lowes have those three as well as Toro, Husqvarna, and Troybilt. Worx and Craftsman of course from Sears. So my questions are:
How difficult is it going to be to find parts? Will I be stuck with internet only ordering?
Will this brand fade? Longevity?
The price of the mower seems good, but if I can't find blades, filters, belts, etc., or if I have to pay 2 or 3 times the amount for them, it's not so attractive.
Also, How American made is it? Does it have any MTD in it at all? I have read that Ariens, Cub Cadet, even Craftsman have at least some MTD parts in them, which are known to be cheap outsourced junk. by Matt from New York on May 21, 2011
A: Matt - the Allis Chalmers brand is part of the Briggs and Stratton power products group, same as Snapper and Simplicity. This brand is in no way affiliated with MTD. This tractor is the same basic design, and uses many of the same components, as the more popular Snapper LT130AWS all-wheel steer tractor that sells for $2500 to $2900. You can readily find parts and get service on an Allis Chalmers tractor from your local Snapper or Simplicity dealer, and since this tractor uses a Briggs and Stratton engine, engine parts are also readily available from any Briggs and Stratton dealer or service center. I really don't think parts availability would be an issue for you unless you live in a remote part of upstate New York and there are no local Snapper or Simplicity dealers close to where you live. You may want to check on that first before you buy one of these. These tractors are VERY American made.
As to your other statement, Ariens products do not have any MTD parts in them. Ariens and MTD are two totally different companies. Cub Cadet is owned by MTD, and Cub Cadet products would have some common components and parts as found on MTD products. MTD also builds several of the Craftsman brand mowers and snow blowers. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Do you have a part number for the snapper snow blade for a LT130 AWS which also fits the Allis chalmers AC130 AWS ? Thank you can't find it online. Sincerely brad j by Brad Johnson from Ohio on May 18, 2011
A: Brad - because this is an all-wheel steer model, there is not a snow plow blade offered on this model. While the all-wheel steer function makes this tractor extremely maneuverable on turf and bare ground, it does not offer very good traction in the snow. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: What bagger kit would i order for this mower? by L.D.SMITH from Colorado on May 15, 2011
A: The Allis Chalmers all-wheel steer model uses a Snapper 7600070 bagger. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: is the engine pressurized for oil? by Dave from Minnesota on May 10, 2011
A: Yes, this unit would also have a spin on oil filter.
Thanks,
Mowers Direct by Todd, Product Expert
Q: TODD HOW HEAVY MADE IS THE MOWER DECK? I CURRENTLY HAVE A JOHN DEERE LX176 I PURCHASED IN 1997. ON A LOT OF THE BETTER PRICED MOWERS LIKE SEARS, YARDMAN ETC, THE MOWER DECK IS WEAK AND DOES NOT HOLD UP WELL, ALSO WHAT ABOUT WARRANTY ON THIE MOWER
by DENNIS from Missouri on May 08, 2011
A: Dennis - this Allis-Chalmers tractor has a two year consumer warranty on the engine and all non-consumable components. The warranty does not cover consumable components like belts, spark plugs, tires, etc.
There are two types of mower decks used on all residential grade riding mowers. Most residential riding mowers have what is known as a "stamped deck". These deck are literally stamped (shaped) out of a full sheet of 14 guage or 12 gauge steel. The one piece construction does provide strength, but the gauge of steel is lighter, so the stamped decks can be dented or dinged over time. This Allis Chalmers tractor has a 12-gauge stamped steel deck.
The second type of deck is a "welded" deck. As the name implies, this type of deck is made by welding steel pieces together. You wouldn't think so, but a welded deck is actually more durable than a stamped steel deck. The welded decks are also usually made from heavier (thicker) 7 gauge to 10 guage steel - adding to their strength and durability, but also adding to the cost of the mower. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: ANY SNOW THROWER AVAILABLE FOR THIS AND CAN IT REALLY HANDLE MOVING SNOW? by Tony from Iowa on May 07, 2011
A: Tony - because this is an all-wheel steer model, there is not a snow blower attachment nor a snow plow attachment offered on this model. While the all-wheel steer function makes this tractor extremely maneuverable on turf and bare ground, it does not offer very good traction in the snow. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Does the deck have a roller ? How many anti-scalping wheels does it have ? by Brad Johnson from Ohio on April 28, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. the deck has no roller, but there are two anti scalp wheels. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: I have a yard that is very hilly with a double slope. I have had other lawn tractors that I was assure would pull the grade but it was almost impossible. How good is this one on a grade?
by Jerry from Georgia on April 22, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. This mower is able to handle a grade. The all wheel steering helps for better control. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: How is this tractor rated as mulching capabilities, double blade? Do you have to buy mulching blades? by Joseph Orlando from Ohio on April 22, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. This tractor rates as a good mulching mower. We have a mulch kit available. The model number of the mulch kit is 722796. IT is a Snapper mulch kit, but it is compatible with this tractor. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Are the mowers ready to go with MFG assembly by David Brozo from Michigan on April 22, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. The only assembly required is putting on the seat. then you just gas, oil, and go!!! by Todd, Product Expert
Q: What model year is this mower? by Brad from Illinois on April 21, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. These mowers are either a 2009 or a 2010 model year. We have some of both. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Can I pull equipment with this tractor? by John from Washington on April 16, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. You can pull light duty lawn implements with this tractor. For instance a spreader, roller, or cart. by Todd, Product Expert
Q: Is the front axle cast iron? by Lynn from Ohio on April 08, 2011
A: Thanks for your inquiry. The front axle is cast iron. by Todd, Product Expert

No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. This is an American-made all wheel steer tractor with a high performance Briggs & Stratton engine for under $2,000!
This Allis-Chalmers AC130 all wheel steer tractor is pretty much the exact same tractor as the popular Snapper LT130AWS we have sold on mowersdirect.com for the past two years for $2,699.99. Same frame, same engine, same transmission, same mower deck. The three big differences are the paint job, the seat and – the price tag!
mowersdirect.com was able to make a special purchase of these Allis-Chalmers all wheel steer tractors from the manufacturer at a greatly reduced cost, and that means a great deal for you! This tractor has a suggested list price of $2,799, and is commonly sold in power equipment dealerships for $2500 - $2700. Our special price means you can save at least $500 off the normal retail price of this lawn mowing monster.
Check out this video of an all-wheel steer tractor in action. The tractor in the video is actually a John Deere model, but the operation of the John Deere and this Allis-Chalmers is very similar – super tight turning radius, quick response steering, easy-to-use controls, and a smooth, comfortable ride.
Make sure you get your Allis-Chalmers AC130 all-wheel steer lawn tractor before they sell out, because once they're gone - so is this great deal!

Update to my last review..
I purchased this unit for the 3-Blade Deck and the high horsepower. I was hoping that this unit would pick up leaves in the fall as well as any unit on the market living in New England.
Well, I ordered the bagging unit, installed it and tried to mulch & bag up the leaves.....
My review ::: 5 STARS.. This unit ATE-UP wet leaves and it looks like the lawn has been vacuumed leaving no debris at all. From what I've researched BEFORE the purchase of the unit, HORSEPOWER MATTERS with mulching & Bagging.
I thought it may have been an over kill purchase, but I simply could not be happier with this unit.
The only draw back, I need to fabricate a tow-able cart for leave collection, the 3-bagger still does not hold enough for the job I need to do.

I originally ordered a Toro Lawn tractor. There was only one left in stock and there was something wrong with it so MowersDirect called and asked if they could replace it with the Allis Chalmers. I checked on line and the reviews were good so I said sure. I love it. My husband passed away from lung cancer in March. We have a very large lawn and he used to handle the tractor mowing. Our tractor was 26 years old and needed some work. I couldn't work on it so I decided to purchase a new one. My son in law put the tractor together. I mowed the lawn for the first time today and the lawnmower worked great. Other reviews I read indicated the steering was difficult. While the steering was a little stiff around some corners I didn't have any problems at all.
Thank you MowersDirect.

Allis Chalmers DELIVERY By R&L......
Mowers Direct gave us a tracking # to the R&L delivery service telling us our new mower was on time and to be delivered on 9-9-11. Then when we called R&L on 9-8 to find the time of delivery, we were told it might not be here till Monday. It showed online on 9-9 that it would be here on time on Friday. A man named Chris called at 2pm to tell me that the mower just came in and that it was too late and would have to be Monday. It was scheduled to be here between 10am and 2pm. And guess what it's 2:30 and NO mower. Called R&L shipping again and was told that someone should have called us and let us know it will not be here till Tuesday between 11am and 3pm.
This makes me think of the owner of Mowers Direct with his struggle to get a riding mower and he wanted to make a better way to get one. And he did mowers direct made it easy for me to get the right mower. But R&L shipping does a very poor job of updating their tracking # and or delivery times. I am disabled and had friends here to help me unload, but now they couldn't wait forever, and all R&L can say is "SORRY." I hope everyone else that orders one gets theirs when it is to be there. Hopefully mine will be here someday.
THANKS Mowers Direct for helping me find the right ridding mower... Allis Chalmers ROCKS!!!!!!

Hooray Technology!!
Our nearest hardware store is 110 miles away. This makes purchasing difficult and hauling expensive. My intention was to get on the internet and research different kinds of mowers and their ratings. I stumbled onto your site. After talking to one of your very helpful representatives, I found out which mower would best suit our needs, ordered it and it was delivered within a week! Our mower is just perfect for our lawn needs. Thanks.

So far...so bad...
I ordered my mower on June 30, 2011, and so far I've used it 3 times and now it is useless. To start off with, if I'd done my homework, I'd have found out that the "sale" price is the same as the MSRP on the manufactures website. However, I did save on sales tax and shipping, so I can't complain about that too much. When I received the mower, the battery was dead so I charged it as recommended. I did notice that the battery had a 2009 date code on it. After the first mowing, I had to charge the battery again for the second, and observed that the battery would not hold a charge for very long. I called MowersDirect and was told, "No problem go purchase one locally, send us the order # and the receipt, and we'll reimburse you for the battery". Fair enough, I thought. I'm still waiting on that reimbursement.
My yard has some hills, and during the 3rd mowing, the mower started to stall going up the hill. It would get about half way and move no further. It sounds and feels as though something is slipping IN the transmission. It will move on flat ground, but not up the hill. The manual says to check the adjustment of the clutch link and so I did, but that did not help. The next recommendation is to replace the belt because it is worn out. Worn out? Doesn't look worn out, and I've only had this mower for 6 weeks or so....
I'm quite frustrated at this point, as I think I have a lemon, boat anchor.....and finding out about a service center in my area has also been a fruitless task. There are none.

I received mine at about 11:00 on Friday, removed it from the crate, put the battery on charge, read the manual. On Saturday I checked the oil, filled it with gasoline, climbed on, turned the key on, it started. I had been using an MTD, 18 hp, 46 inch cut for the past 23 years. What a difference, the four wheel steering will take a little practice, but I like already. Another thing to get use to is the pedal on the right, it allows the tractor to move forward and reverse.
My old tractor took 2 - 2 1/2 hours to mow, Saturday I was finished in less than one hour. I did not use the cruise control. First impression, great machine. I will need to purchase a manual for the mowing deck.

My New Alice Chalmers
I like my new mower a lot. It starts well, mows well & sits well. It also mows backwards, I really like that. The only thing, it steers a little hard for me. Otherwise it's great.

I just got to use the Allis Chalmers mower this week. I have two houses on my farm and both have an acre of grass to cut. As far as performance, I am totally disappointed. It steers very hard, backs up way too slow and the mower deck is not at heights that lever says. I was extremely disappointed in the engine being a Briggs and Stratton. My family has been in the farming business for 100 years and very familiar with Allis Chalmers machinery and to find a Briggs and Stratton engine was wrong.
After using the mower and getting use to all wheel steering, I would rate behind John Deer and Husquavana in which I could have bought either one for 250 dollars cheaper.

First time ever ordering something like a mower over internet!
We had been looking around our town mower after mower and getting more confused, hearing this is good that is good, don't buy that! I hated it! So when I checked your site out and saw that I could compare any machines I wanted to, I saw some light! We wanted something powerful enough to do up to 2 acres of cutting and a ditch with a steep pitch. It had lots of features, which I wasn't sure about. Well...I saw it said free shipping, no tax....and thought wow that is another big savings. I really doubted it would be that simple. We checked it out and it was delivered without a scratch in a well made crate. The driver of the truck really looked it over as he had been checking out lawnmowers by LaCrosse. I told him about your site and he said he thought he was going to go home that night and check you out too. My son has mowed many times with it now and he is very impressed with it. The turning abilitiy and power really surprised him. He told me it has cruise control too....which he said he hasn't tried yet. But I have to say I did it right and it passed everyones inspection. Thanks for making me look like I knew what I was doing!

my new tractor
I am more than pleased with my new tractor. I have 2 acres of hilly, steep property it took me over six hours to mow with a self propeled mower. With Allis I am able to mow the entire "multi area" in about one hour. The tractor handles very nicely - a little hard to turn in low speed but overall it does a great job with little effort. I also use less gas and now look forward to what was once a very difficult job. I have just ordered a aerator with spreader combo, it looks like another large hard project will be a thing of the past. I do recomend this tractor to anyone looking to free up a lot of time for fishing or any other form of free time entertainment.

Great Lawn Tractor For Price
We researched many brands, prices, specs, etc with many vendors. We decided on this one because the price was excellent for the horsepower and features we were looking for. We are not disappointed. We paid more 10 years ago for a similar mower and it did not have the nice sharp turns this one has.
We use it for 4 acres of mowing - mostly prairie grasses and weeds and also use it on our lawns around the house. This shipped and arrived very quickly. A similar mower comparison of another brand costing about the same had some very bad reviews and from experience with this brand we knew it would not be a "tough" mower, but that is what you will get with most mowers at this price. This one is very sturdy and withstands the bumps and hills with no problem at all. It would be hard for some people to steer it around corners, etc, perhaps, but that is not an issue with us.

A Great Mower
I absolutely love the Allis Chalmers 4 wheel steering mower! The 23 hp engine is smooth, quiet and provides all the power anyone would ever need. Unit is also a great mulching mower (I ordered the optional mulching kit).
The 4 wheel steering does take a bit of getting used to. I have discovered that if you slow down before you start to execute a turn you won't have any trouble. When you get the hang of this beast you can trim almost as close to trees, walls, flower beds, etc. as you can with a Zero turn mower.
Delivery of the tractor was on time (only 2 days) and the trucker was very helpful. I purchased the power tailgate delivery option for an extra $50 and I am glad I did. This tractor is huge and the crating added to the weight and bulk. Unless you have a half dozen very strong and friendly neighbors - get the tail gate option!
The only complaint I have about this purchase is that the battery was DOA and could not be charged. My small engine repair shop tried for two days to get the battery to hold a charge but without success. I was NOT HAPPY about having to pay $50 for a new battery for a tractor that was advertised battery included.
Delivery of the tractor was on time (only 2 days) and ... more

Purchase worth every penny
I have had several different kinds of lawn mowers over my lifetime, however, this is the best one. The AC130AW has great power, awesome turn and handling capability. I have been truly amazed with this mower. Highly, highly, recommend strong buy. I have used several AC tractors over the years, and decided to give the mower a chance and very glad I did. The only short coming is I did not purchase the front bumper guard, but I'm going to get one to go on the mower. Again, strong buy recommendation.

Took a Chance
I took a chance and ordered a major item via internet. The Company has great e-mail communication re: the order status and shipping status. When the mower arrived and I used it for the first time I was completely satisfied and impressed. Great Company selling good products. They are a 10 on the scale of 1 to 10 for me.

One Ruggid Unit..
I purchased this unit on line sight unseen. I tried four local dealers to access the unit, however they had none in stock. This is my second purchase from Power Equipment Direct, my first being an Ariens Professional Series Tracked Snow Thrower.
This AC Lawn Tractor is a very well crafted piece of equipment. Nice engineering. It came with Mulching Blades on the unit. Not knowing this, I purchased the Mulch Kit. I put the Mulch Kit Flap on the unit and cut some damp lawn to see if it had the power to mulch wet grass without clumping, low & behold it ATE IT UP. Not any sign of cut grass anywhere, very impressed. The unit works as expected ( and hoped !!).
A few minor events, the battery was dead when shipped.. Minor inconvenience. The shipping crate, holy cow, if they build a shipping crate like they do their machines, I'm in for a treat. Had to grab the SawZall...
After learning to navigate the 4-wheel steering, it is very useful going around objects when cutting the lawn. However, it does take some steering by Armstrong to turn the steering wheel when going slow. Not for the weak armed who insist on power steering. It reminds me of a 60 series pick-up with out power steering, back in the day.
All in all, I am very satisfied. Also, I would like to mention, I also called the Technical Assistance ( the 1-800 number is in the Owners Manual ) and they e-mailed me the complete parts list for the unit.
I will follow up with more posts as time progresses.

Four Wheel Steer Experience:
It took about three hours of operating this mower to get used to the four wheel steering. I had to learn to slow down a little when coming out of a sharp turn. It takes a little muscle to steer back from a turn. Now it is not a problem as I got used to that. Now I am vary satisfied with this machine and am spoiled with the maneuverability of this unit. The controls, mower, engine & hydrostatic trans all work great. Also on my hilly landscape the stability is greater than most mowers because the wheel base is wider. Also the traction is better when turning do to the fact that the rear wheels are following the front wheels and not pushing in a different direction. I am a happy camper and could not have paid $5,000 more for the Green one with four wheel steer.

Great Tractor
I can't speak to the longevity of this machine as I just received it 3 days ago, but I can tell you my initial impression is quite good. It arrived in TWO DAYS from when I ordered it! It cuts great and the four wheel steering is a feature I never knew I couldn't live without! The battery was from 09 and needed to be charged but that was the only thing I had to prep.
Seems to be of solid construction with heavy duty steering linkages. I couldn't really find any reviews on this mower so I felt I was taking a chance with it. I'm glad I did and would recommend it to anyone.
